Michael Jackson drugs?

Ok I just caught the last part of a story on the Today show about this. The way it sounded was that they did find the drugs in his system. Is this true? If so, what are the details? I just caught the last two sentences then they went on about some intervention his family was planning for him.

The tests have not come back yet. It will take 6-8 weeks. They found things in his home, which is no shock at all. They are trying to find out where he got the stuff from.

Well, not unless I missed it, too. I don't think I did because I am always watching.

Nothing official has come back yet - at this point it's all speculation.

But I heard someone talking on TV this weekend that was saying with MJ passing his physical recently, the way he appeared to be full of energy and dancing at rehearsals, the amount of prescription drugs they found at his house (under different names), it is all pointing to a drug overdose. Which is really sad that he basically killed himself and could still be alive and well. I heard they are now wanting to talk to about 5 physicians. Just sad.

I heard on the news and read online and in the newspaper that law enforcement says the powerful sedative Diprivan was found in Michael Jackson's home.

Diprivan is an intravenous anesthetic drug widely used in operating rooms to induce unconsciousness. Also known as Propofol, it's very unusual to have in a private home.

If this is true, wonder why that was there??

I heard he had trouble sleeping and wanted it to help him sleep. But DH & I were talking and neither of us is in the medical field....but when you're put out like that for surgery or whatever, it isn't real sleep, is it? I mean you go to sleep, but it's not the restful sleep one needs like most people get every night, is it? It doesn't seem like that would have helped him with sleep issues.

I thought that when this was given, you had to be put on a ventilation machine, because it is basically a paralyzing drug used for surgery. Maybe I was misinformed though.

Don't think it is suppose to help with sleep.

I think that it knocks you out and works rapidly. They use it in ORs when they need to operate right away.

That's what I read.

Sounded like from the bits and pieces on the tv last night that he was on a ventilator and/or taking oxygen regularly. Honestly, certainly he was a world-class performer/artist...but the guy was a freak show. What kind of parenting can you do under the influence of these sorts of drugs? What happens in an emergency? I don't know about anyone else, but my kids have needed help in the middle of the night from time to time. (Yes, I know that the hired help/nanny steps in...but still...) What a mess.

I had heard last week that he had only wanted to do 10 shows and it got stretched out to 50. I didn't really think much about it, but today I heard and interesting rumor...that he still only wanted to do 10 shows and was trying to make it look like an emergency to get to the ER to have a reason to cancel some shows, but then it killed him...all speculation and rumor, but that's what I heard today.

Damn, what a shame! If you need to sleep, how about an Ambien? Or how about 2 or 3 Benedryls, heck, they KNOCK me out!! Geez, what a shame....to have to die because you want to sleep. My only solace is knowing that when they gave him that injection of anasethia medicine (still speculation at this point!) that he fell into a quick sleep and never knew he died. He went to bed thinking he was going to wake up, practice, eat, whatever....... it's like going to sleep and never waking up. He had no idea he died. It is breaking my heart. The power of drugs, well, it's horrible, isn't it? But WHO gets addicted to anasthesia? I have never heard of this!!!!!!!! I'm sure we'll know more as the weeks unfold............ I guess if I had to die, that would be the way to go, better than being in a horrible and scary painful car crash, or being murdered, or something bad like that.
