Where did you go or would you go for your honeymoon?

We had planned to go to St. Thomas to the Frenchman's Reef, but Hurricane Hugo hit right before our wedding in 1989. The travel agent had to switch us to Barbados. It turned out to be really nice though and I'm glad we got to go there. We still haven't been to St. Thomas yet though! ~Lisa

We were poor and got married by the mayor on a Monday morning and then loaded up the pickup and drove to Bowling Green, KY and toured the corvette factory. This was fun and it was 26 years ago. Our anniversay is next sat, the 25th.

We went to Amelia Island and stayed at Elizabeth Point Lodge, a B&B. It was wonderful! As I've mentioned before in my posts, David and I were married in June of 07. While there, we spent a day at Cumberland Island, and it was an amazing outting. Cumberland Isle is reachable by boat, and it has incredible, raw beaches and wild horses. I would go back in a heartbeat. What made our honeymoon even better, we went with our best man and "Lady" of honor--they are also in their 50's and are our best friends. Look up Amelia Island and Elizabeth Point Lodge on Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor.

Hey Lisa we went to St Thomas and St Croix and St John... It was beautiful we went back about 4 years to show the kids where Mommy and Daddy went on their honeymoon. Now if I could have and had the nerve to fly that long it would have been Tahiti which from only the pictures looks like pure paradise omg its so beautiful. However St Johns to date has been one of the most seriously beautiful Islands I have visited... Peace. Catherine

We got married in October of 1989. We had planned an Eastern Carribbean cruise, but switched to a Western Carribbean cruise due to the hurricane damage as well!

While we were on the cruise we went through a Cat 5 Tropical Storm. They said had they known how bad it was they would have changed our course. We had to skip the stop in Playa del Carmen because we couldn't dock. We thought we had just got married and were going to die at sea! They drained the pools, had barf bags all over the boat and the anchors were banging on the side of the ship. It was pretty scary! We had a lot of fun, though...that was just one day and night.

We stayed home and went fishing at a local lake. Husband dropped his ring in the water and we almost couldn't get it because we were on some rocks and it fell in a crack!

Also we got married on a riverboat and it had been so stormy for most of the month before (including the tornado that tore up Nashville) but it was really nice on our wedding day.. whew!

We went to Florida, and stayed at Mickey's house. Thirty years ago, it was just the magic kingdom.

We had a very small wedding and then used the money instead on a wonderful once in a lifetime honeymoon (1975)(after 34 years, we never had another vacation like it, lol). We spent the first half in the Virgin Gorda at Little Dix Bay, and the second half at Frenchman's Reef. It was so beautiful.

We got married in Vegas so that was the honeymoon. We love to cruise and have been to alot of islands so my vote for a honeymoon would be a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean islands.

We went to South Seas Plantation on Captiva Island in Florida. My uncle owned a condo there, right on the water, and offered it to us. So it was a very, very inexpensive honeymoon. We loved it.

We bought a Saab 900s on European delivery as a wedding gift to ourselves. We picked it up in Amsterdam and toured Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Northern Italy to Venice, Austria, and back to Amsterdam to drop the car off at the docks. What an adventure!

My old manager went to Tahiti on his honeymoon. OMG..........the pics he took of the place were UNBELIEVABLE. I so would love to go there. Simply beautiful.

We spent our honeymoon in Maine. Wanted to go somewhere exotic but the price was WAY out of our budget. The inlaws paid for our trip. Guess we liked it since a year after we were married we moved to Maine.

We did go to St. Thomas in 94 for our honeymoon. We had a good time. One of the best days we had is when we listened to a time share presentation for an hour or two and ended up getting 2 bottles of rum for free and a day of snorkeling on a sailboat for free. We also spent the day on St. John which was also very pretty. THe water there was so blue and clear. I have never seen anything like it.

Thanks for sharing everyone...keep them coming. I'm enjoying reading about all of the different things people did and the places they went. I was thinking back to when my parents got married in '62. They didn't have alot of money and went up to the Poconos in PA. They had a blast. I guess it really doesn't matter if you go to some exotic locale or just stay close to home if you're with the one you love. I had been engaged once before DH and the ex wanted us to go to Disney World for our honeymoon. I didn't like the idea at the time, but now I think that would have been pretty fun. ~Lisa

I am impressed with some of the places you went on your honeymoon. Dh and I drove from Maine to Virginia. We spent four days in Williamburg at the Econolodge. Cost us $20 a night. We were so young and naive (19 and 20). Thought we knew everything about life. We did have a great time. I remember we ate at Hardees every night, they had a chicken special for $1.99 and it was all we could afford. Those are some of the best memories I have. Hard to believe that was over 27 years ago...

We were young & poor when we were married. We drove up to the 1000 islands, stayed in Alexandria Bay, NY and visited Boldt Castle. The castle was in bad shape when we were on our honeymoon but we went back 10 years later and they had done alot of restoration on it. I'd like to do a cruise in the future.

I got married in 1974. I had never been on an airplane ( I was 22.). My husband's sister and husband came to the wedding from El Paso. We drove back with them to El Paso. We stopped at Carlsbad Caverns in NM. We went into Mexico a few times. Then we flew home. The plane was to land in Chicago but we had to wait. Then we were running out of fuel so we landed in Midway for a couple of hours. On the way to Chicago, we went through a lot of wind. My food hit the ceiling in one air pocket. We got home about 4 hours late about 11:00 pm. My new in-laws were waiting with flowers for me.

DH and I went to the Smoky Mountains, in TN. We had a large, expensive wedding, so I wanted to relax at home for a few days after the wedding (and wanted to stay home for Halloween with DS), so we took off 4 days after our wedding for 5 days in the mountains. We really fell in love in TN, so that's where we wanted to spend our honeymoon. We did rent a beautiful private chalet to stay in, so that part was fantastic. It was built up in the mountains, had a beautiful view, hot tub, jacuzzi, pool table, air hockey, and lots more. Our honeymoon was actually featured in Bridal Guide magazine! Now, for our 5 year anniversary, we will probably go to Tahiti, St. Lucia, or Fiji. Somewhere cool, for sure.

Went on a carribean cruise. On Carnival Imagination. Have been on several cruises since, but that was my favorite. I guess because it was my first.

1st Marriage: We took the ferry to Nova Scotia and drove back to Massachusetts. I loved Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. We also camped at Baxter State Park in Maine. We had done that before in August. My suggestion... Don't camp there in June. On our third day there, the black fly season began. We were packed up and out of the park in a matter of hours. That was sort of a disaster, kind of like that marriage.

2nd Marriage: I wanted a relaxing trip this time so we went to the Poconos. We had a room with a champagne glass whirlpool in it and our own swimming pool. It was tacky but fun.

If I was planning a honeymoon now and I had the money, I'd go to Hawaii for 2 weeks. I've always wanted to see a volcano.

Virgo...Was it Cove Haven in the Poconos? That's where my parents went...almost 47 years ago! I'm sure it's been renovated. I think Caesar's bought it. I think back then they only had the heart shaped tubs...no giant champagne glasses. I checked out their website and you can see what it looks like! ~Lisa

We were married in the Bay Area. We went to Mt Shasta for a couple of days then up Hwy 97 for camping at Wickiup and then staying in La Pine for a few days. Central Oregon is our favorite place!

Yes, Cove Haven. This was in 1988.
