Honeymoon spinoff... What US Islands have you been to?

I'm always looking for quaint US vacations to take with just my husband our our kids. Sanibel Island was just beautiful. I never heard about Amelia Island until the honeymood thread - that looks nice. I've been to Edisto Island and Isle of Palms, Long Beach Island. I've always wanted to go to Nantucket. Where have you been to that is surrounded by H2O ( in the US)? I just heard recently about the islands in maryland & virginia that have wild horses - sounds beautiful.

My dh does not like to travel so anywhere I have been is over 26 years ago. I have been to Hawaii twice. Once to Oahu and once to Kauai. I loved it there and would love to go back. I have also been to Catalina Island.

We've been to St. Thomas, St. John, Oahu & Maui. We've been to several other Carribbean islands, but none were US (that I recall).

Oh yeah, ETA Puerto Rico! That on is US.

Does Long Island count? Other than that, just Nantucket.

As far as U.S. islands, I've been to most of the Hawaiian islands as we lived there for a few years in the early '90's. We lived on Oahu in Kaneohe, but my favorite island was Maui. DH's was the Big Island. I've never been to any places in the Carribean except for Barbados. DH and I are going to Puerto Rico for our 20th anniversary in the fall. I've been seeing some posts mentioning Sanibel and Captiva islands. We were there twice and it's soooooo beautiful there. I'd love to go back sometime. ~Lisa

I forgot to add Chincoteague Island. DH and I were there about 17 years ago. It was something else seeing wild ponies on the beach and wandering around the park. I don't know what it's like now, but if it's anything like it was back then, I would highly recommend going there at least once in your lifetime. ~Lisa

Been to Nassua and Freeeport. If we are talking Islands...I guess I could add MDI and Isleboro (Maine)...they are technically islands!

Puerto Rico & St. Thomas are the only US islands I have been to.

I liked St Thomas better, but I was able to see more of that island. Our children LOVED Puerto Rico!
