Know I have always said I would dearly love to go to Tahiti because just alone from the photos I have seen its looks like the most beautiful paradise place in the world. However the long plane ride I do not know for now anyway. I was just shopping in Pathmark and on line waiting in the checkout line and looking through the magazines of it showed some of the Islands the stars have visited and omg Bora Bora in the Maldives Islands came up. It stated that Demi Moore has been omg its amazing. Can we all not be like Dream of Jeanie and just poof blink our eyes and cross our arms and be there .... Omg pure paradise, hey Catherine come back you got to cook dinner..lol. Okay so share any special paradise Islands you want too visit or have seen. Peace. Catherine

I went to a little island in Fiji that was very nice. I was a little leery when the pilot of our little puddle jumper plane flew barefoot. It was certainly different. We took off on the water and landed at another island. There a guy with a small little boat with an outboard motor that picked us up. He did not have any life vests on the boat, and I remember thinking I sure hope he knows where he is going! He drove us about 45 minutes out to a remote little island. People sang to us getting out of the boat and handed has a drink. It was a wonderful experience, but it did feel a little strange being so far out. The only communication to the mainland was a two way radio that the Chief of the island had somewhere.

Wow Julie its does sound wonderful, I also would worry about those small planes myself not a big fan at all. However some of these fantastic remote beautiful places are only accessible by these means. Can you tell me how long did you stay, how was the food, and the water was it was beautiful as I imagine from the pictures. I have always wanted to stay in one of those rooms or houses that are placed in the water. I can only imagine again pure heavenly paradise. Peace. Catherine

We actually only stayed 3 nights. It was a side trip on our way to Australia and New Zealand. It was absolutely beautiful. The water was gorgeous. For my comfort, it was a little too remote. This particular island was run by a chief. All the other people from his village lived on the opposite side of the island without electricity or other modern conveniences. I did not feel completely safe. One night we had someone shinning a flashlight into our hut, and one evening I watched one of the village teenagers hiding behind a tree watching another visitor undress. It was a bit un-nerving knowing we had absolutely no way to communicate with anyone. It was off of Fiji in the section known as the Yasawa Islands. We stayed at Oarsman's Bay. The food was not so good. Apparently the chicken that was sitting on the dock when we arrived was loaded up with us on the plane and then transported in the little boat with us to the island. Did I mention that it was not in any type of cooler to keep cold? It was a once in a life time experience and although I was out of my comfort zone, we did enjoy it!!

The beautiful island I remember best is Boracay in the Philippines -- I stayed in a bamboo hut, ate fruit all day (pineapple, papaya, mango, guava etc) and enjoyed the white sand beach which was a minute's walk away. The water was as blue as a swimming pool, and little tiny tropical fish followed along with me as I swam. |
