Have you ever had, err, undergone, a Brazilian wax job?

I've been hearing about this special wax job, a Brazailian wax job, where they get every little hair down there. I'm just curious--does anybody really get this done? Gosh, I am just too modest and too fat, LOL! I am imagining you'd have to get into all kinds of embarassing positions so they could, um, access every place!

I'm not asking for anyone to answer if they don't feel like it, but if you don't mind sharing, I'd love to hear your experience on this. I am wondering, how long it might take--does it hurt? Gosh, how do they get all those places? LOL

The benefit is it lasts quite a while, I hear.

Maybe we could all find a little humor, get a little chuckle out of this topic--take some of the heat off of the other thread about insulting other people's beliefs... goodness.

I don't see why this topic would give anyone a chuckle - it sounds more painful than funny to me. Wonder why it's called a 'Brazilian' wax job. Is it common in Brazil? Is that where it started?

I *think* that it is named as such because of the teeny tiny bikinis that they wear in Brazil. I would assume that one would not want hair sticking out whilst lying on the beach...

I have never had one. A girl I work with had a semi brazilian wax job and said she cried, she hurt for days and swore if it would just stop stinging she would NEVER, EVER have wax near her "whoo-whoo" again. Listening to her talk about was quite humerous in that "OMG!" kind of way.

Never ever ever would I consider doing it, I am too modest as well. If any hair as to be shaved I will do it myself. I guess it would be surprising to know how many of the fashion and bikini models do it, perhaps for them , it could be quite normal, however not for me... Peace. Catherine

Well, I do! Have you ever seen the movie, "The 40 Year Old Virgin?" Remember when he was getting his chest waxed? Well, it was funny. And this topic being similar, has the same potential for humor.

No harm in this post, that is what the cafe is all about to come here and ask questions and you will never know if a post will end up being funny. Now if my wonderful husband ever decided to shave his back and had waxing that would be funny, I would not want him to get hurt, but he is rather hairy, but at this point I love him so much who truly cares... btw I do love his hairy chest and the 40 virgin was indeed very very funny... Peace. Catherine

He was very hairy!! I think a hairy chest is exy too! But not hair on the back or shoulders you know? Just the chest, and down the trail of happiness. I don't care for when the men shave their chests or wax them. It might look really good, if they are chiseled and oiled up, but it doesn't get my kitty kat purring. I want my fur! LOL

blackberrybunny now your too funny. But personally I love hairy men, I love men with long long hair I love men with goatees and hairy chest. The longer the better especially his hair on his head.. As far as my husbands back it is hairy and me and my kids tease him and tell him cmom dad let us shave it. We have done bits and pieces but with a razor, he really would need waxing for that job though lol... Peace great thread. I do have my lips, chin and underarms waxed all the time... Legs and other areas I do myself, sorry to get off topic.. Catherine

As I was beginning to read this thread, I already had thought of that scene in 40-Year-Old Virgin. That is one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen in a movie! I was laughing and crying so hard.

Did you know that that scene was improvised and that his reactions as well as the lady doing to wax job and the other guys was all spontaneous and not rehearsed?!! That makes it even funnier to me!!

May be so. I guess it could be funny once you get past the cringe factor!

No, I have not had that wax job, and from what Marylink said about her co-workers experience, I KNOW I would pass on it. I have, however, shaved there myself and after taking a look from a normal position, I took a mirror and layed it on the floor for a better look. Some things look better covered with SOMETHING, I absolutely fell down laughing, I had never seen anything as funny looking in my life. It is amazing to me that men will make complete fools of themselves and throw away years of work and family life for something that looks that way. Sorry, I guess I slipped off topic a bit, but has anyone here taken a serious look there?

I've had a bikini wax. It's very easy to maintain and the...um...most important parts are covered (at least they are at the place I work, a spa). I don't have much of a problem "back there" so no need for one. But I know that the most common position to get back there is you being on all fours and the waxer behind you. I just can't do it, but if I needed to, I'd step up and just do it.

My DH has been bringing them up for years, a lot of my friends talked about them and I always said, no, no, no. I decided to surprise him for our 10 year anniversary and get one. Yes it hurt and I was a little sore, but it really wasn't that bad. I would get them regularly, but it was $50 where I went. DH really liked it too!

I don't think they spend a lot of time LOOKING at it so that probably isn't the main attraction. Loved your use of "slipped ". Intentional play on words??

I would NEVER wax that area of my body. No way, no how.

I do not have a bikini body but if I did I would wear one that covered enough so waxing wasn't necessary. Those boy bottom bikinis are really cute y'know.......

Been there, done that....for years now. It is kind of scary the first time, and feels a little strange, but once you have it done a few times, you will never want to go back to shaving again.

Yes. I wish I could afford to have it done all the time but I can't. I didn't think it hurt much at all. Having my ankles waxed was 10 times more painful than the brazilian wax. It depends on your pain tolerance I think. I have a high tolerance for pain. I took and Advil before going and the first time there was some swelling for a day or so but after that...okey dokey. Never had any issues after the first time

You ankles?? Not your entire leg?

I got a tattoo on my ankle, and it was the most painful of the 8 I have. I guess because of the bone. Maybe that is why it was so painful for you SexySmurf?

I got my legs done (waxed) before I did my brazilian. Legs didn't hurt at all but the ankles...oh man, I teared up! Getting a the brazialian was easy compared to the ankle area

I see what you are saying now--you had your legs done, and the ankle area was the most painful area of the leg. I thought you meant you'd only had your ankles done. I was starting to picture some really hairy ankles in my head, hahahah!

I would like to have threading done on my eyebrows. I read a good book called "Kabul Beauty School" or something like that, about these women in Afghanistan who started a beauty school and one of the things they did was threading. Then I got online and saw a youtube video to see what they were talking about, and wow, that was neat! HOW do they do it?!! Amazing. Who KNEW you could do that with a thread!!

I started getting brazilians done after DD was born. I love them. I don't think they hurt that bad. The first one hurt the worst, but now I get it done about every 3-4 weeks. There isn't much hair so it doesn't hurt too bad. I love it!!!!! As werid as it may sound, I do feel a lot cleaner and put together. I guess its kinda like how you feel better just knowing you have pretty, fancy underwear on, even if no one else knows. DB also likes it too.

It's really not very hard. I tried it once after reading about it and I was actually able to pull a few hairs out -- tried it on my eyebrows. I can see that with practice, you could get pretty good at it.

I've had threading done on my eyebrows in a salon once. Now that really stung! Talk about tearing up.

I would love to have the whole wax job done...my DD doesn't like hair "down there" or anywhere else, and I get tired of shaving. Sawsadsam, you made me LOL!!! Too funny! I actually think it looks better shaved..but that's me..and yes, I did the whole mirror thing, too. How funny!

Sherri Sheppard got one on The View today you should've seen her face! I wouldn't do it because of the pain and there is no reason for me to be completely bare down there. I can manicure and prune just fine with scissors and razor thank you! For those of you who withstand it you could keep state secrets I guess. You're braver than I am!

It's funny I didn't read this thread until today, but I had my eyebrows threaded yesterday! I barely knew she was doing it, and it hurt a HELL of a lot less than waxing them! It was well worth the $20 and my brows look great!

I thought that was a little too explicit for daytime tv.

But then again, I think The View is getting more salacious by the day. Yesterday's conversation with Barbara talking about genitalia and the rest of them talking about penises was pretty dumb.

I would not do a Brazilian, I would probably just shave or maybe a regular bikini wax but not Brazilian...I have used home waxing kits before and they worked ok, though the first time I pulled the strip off in the wrong direction, ouch, and left black and blue marks on myself, lol, maybe I should stick with shaving!
