Wedding reception treat bags

I just attended probably my 50th wedding or so tonight! I hadn't seen this yet so I thought I'd share. There was a big basket of little boxes with a heart shaped paper clip, a ribbon and little note on each little box. There were about 20 jars of candys and you could take a box and fill it with the candy of your choice! It was so cute. Most of the candies were wrapped but for the ones that weren't there were either tongs or scoops. They had kisses, mini Mounds bars, skittles, orange slice candy, mints, candy corn in the brides colors, etc... I thought it was a really cute idea. Just wanted to share!

That must be the new popular idea. I went to two weddings this summer and they had candy bars set up at each one for favors. They both had small bags that were decorated.

I also went to a wedding that had 5 or 6 glass bowls of Jelly Belly jelly beans in the colors of the wedding. I LOVED it. I don't go to very many weddings but this would be a great tradition to stay around. lol

Candy "Bars" are really popular right now.

I actually did this at my wedding over a year ago, but I used Chinese food containers and mini pastries.

What a cute idea!
Please tell me there were Jordan Almonds available, I love those stupid things.

Things sure have come a long way from the days of mints, nuts and Jordan Almonds tied up in white netting.

My DIL did the fill your own box setup; really nice! But guess what? No one was taking any boxes or candy to put in them. Not even the kids. It's as if even they were afraid to touch the pretty display!

I went to one several years ago that had crayons tied up in pretty ribbon for the kids. They had short, kid-sized tables covered in white butcher paper and they also had some wedding-themed coloring books they had made up for the kids that were sitting around on those tables. The little ones had a great time coloring in their books and all over the covered tables. They got to take their crayons home.

Oh my gosh that is so cool. One of my cousins other sons is getting married next June and he is a teacher-preschool and kindergarten. And since there are a gazillion cousins in our family that might be fun. My cousin is one of 13 siblings. When they have Christmas there are 86 of them with spouses and kids! lol I emailed my cousin this idea!!! Thanks!

I did something similar at my wedding. I hit the end of season clearance at CVS and the dollar store and bought little toys, crayons, coloring books, dress up stuff, etc. and the kids loved it! They had their own corner tables at the wedding and they had so much fun.
