The Latest Fad? Car Monograms...

Do you like them or not? Do you have one? They're vinyl peel-and-stick monograms that can be applied to your car's rear window. Have they been around for awhile? I've just recently seen them down here. Are there any B&M stores that sell them? I know that there are places online to order them. I think they look kind of fun, but I'm not sure it would look too good on a Cadillac. I don't put any stickers or magnets on that car. I do have school magnets and a few other little stickers on our other car. I've seen those stick figures on cars with the kid names etc...I don't like them. I don't think I'd like that personal information with my kids names etc. out there for the world to see. ~Lisa

Do you really mean a monogram? Like the initials some people have embroidered on bath towels? If that's what you mean, then no, I wouldn't like it. I don't like it on towels and I wouldn't like it on a car. I think it's kinda redneck, really. Like an attempt to be "classy, " but instead, it looks tacky.

These are decals (similar to stickers, but sorta like those "window clings")

I just ordered one from Ebay - I ordered a cancer ribbon and around it says in loving memory of (with my sister's name and the dates she was born and passed away - August will be one year that she passed, from Lung Cancer)

I haven't recieved it yet. Will post a pic when I put it on my car.

I think they are nice.

I have one on my car : the outline of a My Little Pony! I would love to get a Transformers Autobots decal too. I have the pony on one side of my rear window, and would want to put the Autobots on the other side of the window.

I don't find them funny at all

I have no interest in being stopped at a red light behind a truck with these disgusting things with my 10-year old niece or my 86-year old mother-in-law in the car and having those things staring them in the face And I certainly don't want to have to explain to my niece "what's that hanging on the bottom of that truck?"

Your so right KellyJef, I can see your point, but still, that last time I was in town with mom, we happened to look over and there was this truck with them! I had seen them once on the Internet, but never my mom, and she looked over and said something like "What the *$*)@?????? is that?" and it was one of those funny moments in our life where we just busted out laughing and laughing while sitting at a red light...... maybe it was the heat that got to us, it was hot that day!

But yeah, they might be kinda offensive to grandma, or little Suzie, but really when you think about it, we see nutz all the time in nature--the family dog's got 'em, the gorilla at the zoo's got big ones, the goat, he's got them too. So I dunno.........now your truck or car, or Winnebego can have ballz too! And they come in all colors including 24K hahahahah.

Oh, so these aren't really monograms? Just clings of whatever you want?

Well, they are like a cling, but more like a sticker, in the sense that once you put it on, you cannot reposition it or reuse it....so you have to make sure you put it on correctly. But it is like a cling in the sense that you won't get that "sticky" substance when you remove it and it wont damage your window/car...

Ugh, I don't like that at all. I think it looks very tacky. I don't stick anything on my car, though.

Mine is a large sticker that I put on my window. Like a decal. Oh, and I did order my Autobots one this morning from ebay. And one for DH's truck too. Now I will have a My Little Pony on one side of the window, and an Autobot decal on the other side of the window.
(I am the only female in the house besides the dog, so I needed to pretty up my car.)

I don't care for them, but then I never liked 'decorating' my cars..don't like racing stripes, or bumper stickers, or a cartoon of a kid peeing, or tassels in the window, stuffed animals on the dash either, lol. I see a lot of teenagers these days with huge stickers on their car windows, though!

and yeah I don't like the truck nutz either..

The only one I like is one I saw on a car with a dent in one of the doors. It was a giant Band-Aid.

They have been popular in my city for years. You can't drive down a major street in my city without seeing at least one car with them - and it's quite common to see several. The majority of them are in the rear window and say "In loving memory of...." and have a name & birth/death dates. They are almost always young males between the ages of 16-21. I don't know for a fact, but, knowing the city I live in and the huge gang population, I think many of them were possibly gang-related deaths. It makes me sad everytime I see them.

I don't like them but they are popular. Mostly they are on the back windows and show family members (mom, dad and then kids, pets, etc) in a lineup. I don't like those. Some have cutesy mickey mouse ears on them. Reminds me of the "baby on board" yellow warning signs people hung in their car windows years ago...or the stick on the window Garfield dolls. I do like the people who have fake arms hanging out of their trunks at Halloween though

OH yes, seen lots of these. Have seen some very cute ones... like the families in stick people, and the pets. Also, saw one like it, stick people, the guy in uniform, and they had a flag. It was great!!!

I have seen the balls hanging from the trucks, too. The most "unique" version of that was this HUGE, and I mean HUGE, must have been a good 6" across, NUTS, actual nuts (think screw and NUT) hanging from a chain. Took me a few minutes to "get it".

When I first started driving, I had one of those "moonies" in my rear side window..... some days I wish I had one that shot the bird. People can drive luck such idiots

My daughter and I were stopped at a light when we looked at the truck ahead of us and they had a rubber fish moving its tail. We cracked up. Then looked to the car to the left and when they saw it, they started cracking up too. It kind of looked like the bass that they were selling a few years ago.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Real funny.

I have seen the nutzs too. Seen the animal tails hanging out of the trunks. the fish, 8 ball, bobble head, tennis ball. etc etc. ( living in a tourist town we get exposed to all sorts of stuff LOL )... I like some decals but not all of them I really get uneasy when I see the "family" or the "cheerleader", "Football player", "Soccer", etc decals with the kids names under them. Seems so creepy to put a name to tell the whole world what your child's name is and the school-team they cheer or play for. Maybe I'm just a worry wart over this, but I just don't like them at all , Now if it's just the decal and no names doesn't bother me at all.
You hardly ever see a local car that doesn't have some sort of decals on the windows or even on the cars , Seen a car the other day with the bullet holes plaster all over it.It's not new here at all. Some are done with good taste others no so good.

Here's what I'm talking about. YouTube - Fish on a Trailer Hitch
I have NEVER seen this fish before ! But wow, I could make a KILLING with those. Living here in FL, surrounded by water, everybody either has a boat, an airboat, scuba gear, or something, relating to water or hunting. These fish would make me rich! All of these good 'ol country boys would love them on their pickup trucks! Where can I buy a load of them? LOL!!

Wonder what powers that fish---batteries? Or do you think it wires into the car somehow? The things people invent, haha! Ohh, it needs to be solar powered, haha, so it can store energy in the day and work in the night time. Really different. Kinda stupid, but kinda neat too! Truly redneck!! I can already think of at least a dozen people who'd want on of them. Yeee-haw!

I think these are a riot too! When I was doing Red Ribbon week at the high school this year, one kid had an arm hanging out of the back of his SUV. We were going around tying red ribbons to the car antennas in the senior lot. I tied the ribbon around the fake arms finger! Everyone loved it. ~Lisa

One time, while at a redlight, my DH and I spotted these legs under a semi-tractor trailer truck!! Like the fake arm---only these were legs. I think the drive had stuffed a pair of his jeans and sewed on boots and somehow wedged this under his truck. I was freaking out, but my DH was not. I kept saying, shouldn't we call 911!! I mean, how could the highway patrol let a trucker do that, I wondered? The light turned green, the truck drove on, and so did we. No idea what that was all about.....
