4 fun ~ Fast food joints: Who has the worst burger?

Burger King, Hardees, Jack in the Box, Krystal, McD's, Wendy's.............mainstream franchises only: Who has the worst burger in your opinion?

I'd have to say Hardees. Seems they have a protocol for smothering their burgers in mustard and ketchup. I HATE their burgers. Okay, cheeseburgers. I NEVER eat a burger w/o cheese. But still, Hardees ranks #1 in my opinion on the worst burger from a fast food place.

Who make the nastiest burger, in your opinion?

Best burger: McDonalds!

Wendy's = nasty burgers.

My hometown has one, and we have not been there to eat in forever. We would much rather go to a Burgerville (you may need to google that one - it is in the Northwest area) or McDonalds. Or Arby's. (If we are eating fast food)

I think the best are Wendys. Does Arby's have burgers? Or are you talking about their roast beef sandwiches. I'd have to go with those for the worst. I hate that fake beef...

OK, since I just got back from Vegas......

Worst is McDonald's. Blech. Hate 'em. My kids tho...they love them.

Best.....In and Out Burger. OMG....I wish we could have some of those here. Puts Wendy's (which I can handle) to shame imo.

Love Hardee's Thickburgers. If you don't like mustard or ketchup, tell them to leave it off. That way they have to make yours fresh and then they taste even better. I haven't had a bad burger at a fast food place in a long time. Used to dislike Wendy's but they closed any near me. Guess I was not alone in my dislike. I don't like the Burger King near me, but not because the burgers don't taste good. It's just that place is dirty.

No Krystal or Jack In the Box here. I haven't eat a McD's burger in years and years and years. Used to we wouldn't eat Wendy's. However, the value menu price is right so we tried them again and they're not bad; not my favorite though. Burger King tastes just ok, however, I don't like (excuse me for this description) burping them 3-4 times for hours after I've eat one. So, once again, we haven't eat at BK in many, many years. Sonic has a tolerable burger and we'll eat one maybe twice a year.
One of our favorite fast food burgers is What-a-Burger which is located an hour drive away so we don't have them often either.
Our favorite local fast food burger is Braum's. The ice cream is excellent also. Braum's Ice Cream!

Worst: McDonalds (of coarse I think everything there is gross so I won't even go to one now).

Best: Good Times (CO franchise) and In and Out (wish they were here in CO instead of just CA)

The worst burger I ever had was from Red Robin. It was so dry. My thought was they must cook a bunch of burgers early in the day and then warm them up. This was just yuck.

Best was from Hooters! You could tell this was no frozen patty. It was so good!

Worst -- McDonald's. I can't understand why it's so popular. My kids used to work there long ago and my son now won't go there unless you put a gun to his head!! LOL!

Best -- Toss up between Burger King and Wendys.

Ahhh...these aren't fast food burgers.
The closest Red Robin is about an hour drive and we always make the drive for our birthday burgers. In fact, did it just yesterday. But, it's not fast food. Sorry your Red Robin burger was lousy. I would have complained.

Unhappy

Sorry as a vegetarian they all stink in my personal views, I cannot see how any could be healthy number one they are fast food, who really knows what is in their meat. For my dh who eats then againist my wishes, I mean I will cook him hamburgers no problems, but sometimes he feels the need for a Big Mac and actually the last couple of times he has eaten then, he did get a stomach ache. He also sometimes has a desire for White Castle and again after a few and several hours later big stomach ache. I think if someone wants to eat a hamburger they should perhaps stick to a diner or perhaps just bbq them themselves. Peace. Catherine

Wow, what is this In & Out? We don't have them here in the south apparently!! No Red Robin.

I am surprised at how many of you hate McDonalds! Now that was a shocker. They are my fav!

No one mentioned Sonic. Don't they have burgers? How about Whataburger? Haven't had one of those in a decade.

worst has to be Krystal's and Mc' D...
Mc'd hamburgers are fried and Krystal's taste like a onion ( I have requested w/o onions and was told they put the onions on the patty right after cooking and place that into a steamer pan Ekk, so no getting around that total onion taste there. They said they can't cook fresh burgers till the steamer pan was near empty ).

I really don't have a best to speak of LOL. The best hamburger would have to be my own. But since we are talking about fast food. I guess Wendy's ( cheap 1.00 hamburger) or the 6.00 Burger from hardees.
I hate cheese on my hamburgers. Yucky !.

What do you think they fake the beef with? I don't go in anymore, but when I did, you could see the entire roast being sliced right there on the counter in plain sight. I think it's so thin maybe you aren't used to seeing it that way?

Personally, I like burgers from "mom and pop" type places better. They also usually have fresh fries, not frozen.

I mentioned Sonic and What-a-Burger! Red Robin is a sit down, table service restaurant so it's not fast food but still very yummy.
I Googled In-n-Out burgers and they're a west coast thing, CA, NV, Utah, AZ.

McD's is yuck! I do like their Southern Style chicken though. Very close to Chic-fil-A.

I think they are entire roast "lumps" being cooked. They may be real beef but they are totally processed & formed "roasts". The beef at Arbys does not look, feel or taste like any beef I've ever cooked. I think Arby's beef is equivilant to McDonalds Chicken nuggets or the Carl Budig slices you can buy in the processed meat section of the grocery store. YUCK!

I've never tried Carl Budig so I can't comment. However, when's the last time you had nuggets at McD's? They're not formed nuggets and haven't been for quite some time. They're real chunks of chicken and very good if that's what you want.

I haven't had them in years because they're disgusting. However my youngest dd loves them and still gets them occassionally. They are the same as they've always been.

I think you may be referring to the chicken selects, which are real chicken...not the chicken nuggets.

The best is Braums all the way here. Nothing like the standard fast food burger. I get mine with a side of mashed potatos from the chicken place next door. Food from heaven.

The worst I've ever had was when Sonic had their "Angus" burgers. I literally could not eat it. I hate to waste food and will usually finish something even if it's just okay, but this was awful!

Worst, Jack in the Box

I don't think they are all that they are cracked up to be. I tried them when a friend and I went to Chicago several years ago. Nothing special...tiny little burgers with not much flavor. But that's just my opinion.

You can buy them in grocery stores, I've seen them in the freezer section.

Nope!! I still stand by what I said. McD's nuggets are not formed. I've tried my DS's several different times and they are not formed or pressed together using the leftovers. They are real pieces of chicken and very good.
I don't know how long ago they were pressed and formed and when the change was made but there was a change made at least at our local McD's. I can't imagine McD's not having the same food for all their restaurants. One clue is the irregular shape, used to the shape was uniform.

Since you haven't had them in years, try one. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Worst-White Castle
Best-Burger King

I agree that McD's nuggets are different than they used to be. I think they're still formed but now they're formed out of all white meat, not "grey meat" like they were when they first came out. The outside is better too, more crispy. Still not a big fan of them but they aren't bad.

The grossest thing is Filet-O-Fish. Why is it so popular with elderly folks? I worked at McD's for a couple weeks and the Filet-O-Yuck was #1 with the elderly customers, hands down. I still can't figure it out, it wasn't lent, and it was popular every day, not just Friday. Weird.

I can't eat fast food burgers, I always feel sick after I do.

I am a regular eater of McNuggets though (once a month or so). Now they only use white meat but they're still "pressed" or "mechanically separated breast meat" Not whole chunks.

Ugh, I had one of those once...(note I said ONCE!!! LOL). It gave me the absolute worst gas EVER (which pretty much smelled like rotting fish and old french fries, sorry, I'm sure that was TMI). DH has banned me from ever getting one of those again and with the way they taste I have no problem with that. I tried it because one of my friends gets it every time she goes to McD and I thought I would give it a try. YUCK!

Now that is weird! The grossiest would have to be the double Filet-o-Fish!! I don't see how anyone could stomach one of those. And, how about the McRib?? Double Yuck!!

Worst -McD's but I haven't eaten at Krystal's or Jack in the Box or White Castle.

Best - SmashBurger - maybe it's a new chain, I hadn't heard of it before but they just opened a few stores around here (it's kind of like a Red Robin) and the burgers are great

I almost forgot Checkers.. I think some places it's called Rally's? They have pretty nice burgers. I haven't had one in about 3 or 4 years though. They also had great curly fries!

Thumbs down

I agree if you going to eat a hamburger at least eat it from a mom and pop old fashioned lunchonette, I believe it would be alot healthier then any of the above mentioned fast food places, again who truly knows what goes into those products. On a personal note my son Tommy when he was younger he was always a picky picky eater and lived on Burger King and White Castle, only eating chicken none of my children have ever eaten a hamburger from any of those places thank God. Anyway, after several years he stopped and started eating more home cooked meals. Of course several years later, he would start to have all these stomach problems and which resulted in ibs and cealic disease and being lactose intolorent. I will tell you I have been told my his gastric doctors all that fast food was so bad for him. Honestly if today if he tried to eat any of it, it would make him so sick. For my parents who grew up on Whitecastle with them too, they want to eat them, only paying the price so sick to their stomach afterwards... Peace. Catherine

Mmmmm I forgot about Rallys, those are GOOD! There fries are soo good, I was just thinking about them tonight. I haven't had a fry in years but man I think I would eat a Rallys fry if I had one.

Still Hooters was the best ever for me. And to me if it isn't fancy, it is fast food. I wouldn't call Hooters or Red Robin fancy

MMMMM there is a special time for White Castles

The worst for me would be Burger King (then again maybe its just the two near me that ruined it for the rest of them) Also, Krystal, when I was in NC I was craving white castle and was told that they are similar so my DD and I drove almost 2 hours to get to one in SC and we were extremely disappointed

My favorites are checkers, mcdonalds and white castle

I guess I'm the odd duck here, but I LOVE hamburgers from just about anywhere. Hardee's is divine, along with Burger King. Just about can't beat a Big Mac from McDonalds. WhatABurger is soo good, but soo expensive.

Peace. Catherine

except their talking about fast food and not if it's bad for you or not

Valorian , fast food joints a question was asked?? was it not , who has the worst burger. I answered the question they all stink in my personal views and I also added in in my personal experiences with fast food joints and again that I feel they all personally are not good and are bad for you.. There are many many times a thread is started and many many times other posters go a bit off original topic as I did, not harm intended , so therefore why is it a problem if I choose to write and comment like I did>>Certaintly did not mean to cause any harm or trouble I gave my personal views on fast food joints plain and simple. Have a nice night... Peace. Catherine
