Need Grammar help please

When showing pictures to someone, do you say ,"This is Joe and I" or "This is Joe and me." Isn't it correct to say, "This is I." ? So wouldn't Joe and I be correct? Sounds funny.

I think it should be Joe and me. If you take Joe out of the sentence, you would say this is a picture of me.

I believe these are called subject and object pronouns. You would use I at the beginning of a sentence, such as I am going to the store. You use me at the end of a sentence, such as: Give it to me.

So, to answer your question, you would say, this is Joe and me.

Talking about your trip, you would say, Joe and I went to Hawaii. (beginning of the sentence) You might then say, This is a picture of Joe and me at the beach.

(If you break it up, it might sound clearer to you, This is a picture of Joe at the beach. This is a picture of me at the beach. You would not say "This is a picture of I at the beach, so you would not say, "This is a picture of Joe and I at the beach."

I hope that helps

It is definitely Joe and me. Just leave off the "Joe". You would never say, "This is a picture of I." Also, it isn't correct to say, "This is I." For example, if someone calls on the phone and asks for you, you say, "This is she." -- not, "This is I." nor "This is me."

I just say "This is" hmm now seeing it in writing that seems weird LOL
Some calls and ask My I speak to Renee, I reply "this is"
Ok looks weird seeing it, I will stop saying that LOL

Sorry to ramble but back to topic I agree with most it should be "me"

Renee

When you have a question, all you ever have to do is leave Joe out of the sentence to see whether I or me is appropriate. If you think that saying, "this is I in the picture." sounds correct, you are wrong. You should turn off the tv and pick up a book.

I agree about reading and not watching tv. My dd had difficulty writing and spelling. She became an avid reader of older 19th century books like Jane Eyre, Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, etc. Reading strengthened those skills and helped her to be able to write essays and reports in college.

Generally people on tv (not just in reality shows, but newscasters as well), have been steadily declining in grammar, and spelling skills.
