Someone just called me at 10 pm saying they were with the power company. They rattled off more information than they should have know to lull me in and wanted my check information ie bank info, to confirm my last months payment. I started asking questions esp why they were calling me at that time of night and the woman got flustered . I hung up and called the power company just to confirm. It was a new scam. They reported it to security.

Glad you caught it, but I have to say the potential scammers were rather dumb to call at 10 p.m. Everyone knows regular office hours end at 4:30 or 5:00.

Wow, they must have been high or something, to try to call anyone at 10 pm and claim they were trying to conduct business like that! Too bad you couldn't have gotten it recorded somehow. I'd call the phone company, ask them to tell you the number that called, or check your Caller ID history, and notify the police and phone company. Maybe they can catch these idiot crooks!

I would also turn in a complaint to the no call registry....
