I have anxiety and I take Zoloft for it. I had only tried Xanax before and it didn't help too well, but the Zoloft is wonderful! I've been on it for 9 years now. 100mg once daily.
I've never tried Buspar.

I thought zoloft was just for the treatment of depression ? Does it treat anxiety as well?

many depression meds treat anxiety.
As with most medications what works for one person, may not work for another person. And it can take 4-6 weeks before the medication actually "kicks in"

Zoloft cured me of daily panic attacks and anxiety. I always felt like a crisis was immenient and that's a horrible way to live. I always felt like a deer caught in the headlights. Zoloft has completely changed my life. My sister takes it too and she's not near as snippy as she used to be-less critical, etc... It's a miracle for our genetic makeup! I was thinking that last week as I was at my sons wedding. I was thinking how nervous I would have been if I wasn't on meds. I absolutely enjoyed the wedding and I wouldn't have if I wasn't on 'em. I would have been too nervous, had a couple panic attacks, maybe an IBS attack, etc... It's so much nicer to enjoy life!!!!

I've been on Zoloft for 2 years. 50mg once per day. I think I need to go to the Dr. and get it bumped up, but I am so much better with anxiety and depression than before.

I'm on 150mg once a day. I can handle 100 but 150 is much better. I'm a very anxious type of person! My sis does 50 unless she is going through a really rough patch and then does 100.

I took Buspar years ago, but it made me lose weight and feel dizzy! For some, that is not a bad side affect, but I was so stressed I was under 100 pounds and stopped having periods, so it was not healthy for me. I switched to Effexor and it was great......tough to wean off of tho.... I felt like I had the flu--upset stomach and full body aches! My doctor gave me Klonopin to get thru the withdrawls and that helped!

Klonopin is also for seizures. Many seizure meds work for migraine headaches.
