Ok I am going to cancel my home phone and get a cell. I have no idea where to start. I won't use that many minutes I don't think, but would like to have text messages and be able to send pictures. My son lives several states away. I have no idea what kind of phone to get either. Any help at all would be great.

My immediate response is pageplus cellular. It is a great pre-paid plan that now offers a sizable monthly prepaid for less than $40, using verizon's towers/map. However, I don't know that you can send pictures with those (the minimal plan, no-can-do, but maybe on the monthly).
