Air Conditioner Help!

I'm having a problem with my a/c and was hoping someone might have any idea of how I can fix it. Of course it's saturday night - can't reach a service person- and of course I'm having my family over tomorrow for my dd's birthday - and of course it's about 100 degrees here. I dropped the remote control while the a/c was off, and now it won't work. Strangely enough, the a/c won't even turn on when I use the controls on the a/c itself. I think it's stuck on some kind of timer. The only way I can turn it on is to unplug it from the wall and then press the reset button on the plug, but even then I can't control the temperature which is stuck on 60 degrees. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can try? I've replaced the batteries in the remote, and it actually lights up when I aim it at the a/c but it doesn't work. Any help would really be appreciated. By the way, it's a fridgidaire. TIA!

Sorry, I can't help, but I'd leave it on at 60 until i could get someone to fix it. It may be a waste of money, but it's better than being hot. Lol

Thanks, Judy. I'm actually keeping it on 60 for as long as I can stand it hoping that the timer will run out - if that's what's causing the problem. Brrr-- it's cold!

Not sure if this will help, but maybe if you tried blow drying the remote and drying out the remote...maybe it will work again...or putiing it in the sun tomorrow to see if the electronics will dry out enough to work....
