Who Is The Best Real Estate Firm?

I want to sell a home and since it's several hundred miles away, I've decided to go with a large firm since I won't be involved once I hire them. Naturally, I want a company or agent with a very low percentage take, a very short contract, and very high energy who won't let my house sit on the market and will sell it very quickly for a great profit. LOL.

Can somebody tell me who they think's the best real estate firm? Any good or bad experiences? TIA.

I think that it depends entirely on who works there. Even though a firm may have offices all over the country, they franchise. Each city seems to have one firm that dominates.

Look at Zillow.com and see what company seems to have the most listings.

We recently used Remax and had a wonderful experience. Before them we used Coldwell Banker and had an awful experience. I can tell you after going through selling a house in this economy, it is all in the person you hire! They need to be aggressively marketing your house to other real estate agents, keeping current on prices etc...

Can you be there to meet at least three different agents on site? Part of your decision should be based on their synopsis of the house itself, and the local market / area. You should be able to sense their overall qualities, not just their ambition they want you to see.

I had to sell my Aunt's house in another state a little over a year ago and I made this a priority. I scheduled three, spaced about 1 1/2 hours apart and I made notes while speaking with each. They also presented me with their own type of market analysis and agent background.

I was very involved in the process and the agent knew that I was interested and available. I think if you step aside, they may not have as much push to sell your property. Most are in the MLS and online so I think the better service comes from a smaller company - at least in my experience.

I hope so! I'm driving there this weekend and I have six appointments with six different realtors. I let each of them know I'm interviewing different companies/agents to sell the home. All six are coming out to the house (separately, of course) to tell me why they're the best agent to sell my house. I'm just hoping I choose the right one.

Thanks for the responses!
