It only took nearly 2 months, but a Dr. finally figured out why my arm swelled. I have polymyositis.

Polymyositis is an auto-immune disorder like Lupus or Rheumatoid arthritis.

To get it under control, I have to take Prednisone--eventually the MD will taper me off of the steroids, and get me on some sort of maintenance medication.
Oh, and stress only makes the symptoms worse....
But, at least I have a diagnosis to work with.

I'm glad you have a Dx. Now, you can make an action plan. ha, stress makes it worse.....LOL...... ah, how do you stay stress free??? If you find out, let me know....LOL.

OOPs I forgot I am asking because my hands and feet hurt all the time and when I run them under hot water it feels so much better. Also I do from time to time suffer from lower back aches and a stiff neck so again if you can share your story I would deeply appreciate it so much... Peace. Catherine

I have lupus (SLE). You'll be on the predisone until the symptoms, for the most part, go away. Then they'll try you on various meds to see what helps you the most with the least side-effects. Stress makes any disease worse. I feel for you. It took my docs over a year to find my "magic bullet." med. I was in remission for almost 10 years. Now its back again.
