latest splurge?

Typically, I'm really good about not spending money, but once in a while I do splurge. Today I got tickets for the best seats available for me and my husband to see Mark Morris (with Russell Sherman as one of the soloists). I'm psyched, but feeling guilty.

Help me feel less guilty! What was your latest splurge?

Splurge isn't the word for it at our new house.
New hot water tank, new toilet, new toilet seat pad,new linoleum floor, new bathroom fixtures, new electrical stuff, new storage units, new locks, new furniture, new this ,new that, the list goes on and on.

New laptop. Our desktop was going on six years old and we figured we were finally due for a new computer. We splurged and got one with a large screen and an 8 hour battery life.

DH ordered a $60 bottle of wine at dinner the other night when it was just the 2 of us. It was a nice dinner.

My lime green Coach handbag. I am totally in love with it. Got it with my winnings in Vegas!! Dh still can't understand my fascination with these designer handbags I'm acquiring....till I remind him how he feels when he gets a new gun.

I haven't worked since the end of June so I don't recall buying anything lately. I guess my last splurge was my Coach bag I bought on ebay in May. Sigh~ Clarence misses me I'm sure some of you are cheating with him right now.

the $40 of stuff I got at Yankee Candle.
I saw what some of the boney bunch items were selling for on e-bay so when I saw that the store by me had some of the pieces, I just had to have them My thought initially was to ebay them, BUT.. I can't decide what I want to sell and what I want to keep so more than likely I am going to keep them all

The Red Sox game I went to on 9/1. Between the tickets and all the other goodies, it was a $100 day. I can justify it though. If you haven't been to a game in 17 years, it comes out to only $5.88.

I'll make you feel better.... most recently:

$130.00 for new UGGs for me

$700.00 for a night out at the Dallas Cowboys stadium for me and DH - we went to the first game in the new stadium. $360 for tickets, $60 for parking, T-shirts, drinks, etc. It was historic, but kind of spendy!!

$7,000 for vacation to Mexico for a week the first of August. We had only planned to spend about $2,000 and fly standby, but the flights looked questionable, so we decided to suck it up and buy tickets last-minute. We also bought lots of stuff there and did some excursions! Yowzers.

I've put a hold on myself.... Christmas is coming up!

Not sure if you would count it as a splurg but $25,000 on new landscaping for our new house, sad thing that amount wont finish it, that was what we could pay cash for and decided not to go in debt for the rest.

I bought a new laptop at the first of August to keep me entertained when I was in the hospital. It will come in handy for future visits too since I seem to be racking up frequent flyer miles there lately.

I am going on a 12 day Cruise to Turkey, Greece and Egypt in Oct.

Got my DH a new GPS

DH got me a Coach purse for my birthday.

Gee looks like we splurg alot but honestly we don't. It just happens we did it all at one time.

I went to the thrift store recently and spent about $17 on 5 tops and two bathing suits.

DH has been unemployed for the last year, in August he got a job! It made me feel pretty good

We haven't made a big purchase in awhile so here we go:

Today: I got DH and I iPhones (with warranty and accessories) $800 (ouch!)

In the next month: a nice insulated cover over our back patio and firepit ($7K)

so don't feel bad

Spent a tad over $100 to join Sweet Adelines - a singing group here. I love it and love singing. I justified it by opening a new bank account and when you opened with $25 you got a free $100 - so that is what I used it on.

I just wanted to thank you all for stimulating the economy. Some more than others.
We are a little leary about job security around here right now so no splurges for us.

Mine was our six week vacation in our motorhome from KY to CA and back.
We took our 16 year old grandson and we visited 5 National Parks and 3-4 National Monuments and relatives we had'nt seen in years and grandson had never met. It was a simply wonderful vacation and all three of us had a great time! It was worth every penny!!!

Flew to Chicago last month to see two Pearl Jam shows. And I bought the tickets for one of the shows on StubHub. Stayed at a super nice hotel.

And I think next month I am going to fly out to Philly to see them for 4 shows!!!!!

Complete splurge but sooooo worth it!

Yeah, that's the consensus among most people we know: this is not the time for unnecessary spending

Even people who had always felt their jobs were fairly secure are finding that they're not!

My vacation to visit frinds in the DC area. Between eating out, thrifting to we dropped and going to the Newseum I probably spent $200 in 4 days.

Not a fortune to be sure but more than I've spent on myself in quite some time. And worth every single penny, including the one I squished at the Newseum.

My latest splurges have been my new (to me) bmw 328xi and travel deposits/airfare for trips to Cancun and Guatemala (Habitat for Humanity). Oh, and I suppose that $20k tuition/room&board bill is a splurge of sorts....

Wink

Count me in 22,000 for my son Tommys tuition for his 3rd yr of College and 7500 for a second hand with about 52,000 miles toyota camry for my younger daughter Caitlin who is now is a driver , there is no spare money to spurlge to have fun, we did do a vacation but only to florida nothing big, we really wanted to go to a Island but with the above items forget it. Oh yeah also one of Tommys college books cost 275.00 and lets not forget that we had to add Caitlin onto our auto insurance plan which of course only made the premuim go way up especially since she is only 17 and a first time driver... I do not even want to think because while Hope is done with College next year Caitlin will be so again we will have 2 in College oh well. Peace. Catherine

My latest splurge was a $140 ticket to the fift row at the Schoenfeld Theatre in NYC to see the broadway play A STEADY RAIN with HUGH JACKMAN and DANIEL CRAIG! We have to drive, park, and eat which will be another few bucks but totally worth it! I am counting the hours until this Saturday at 8 PM!

$285 for a Coach Brooke purse in Eggplant. It was way over what I normally spend on their bags (I'm an outlet girl) but it was calling to me and that was with a 25% off coupon!!

I bought myself a new outfit at only 30% off. It was hard, not to buy the new outfit, but to only get 30% off. It was a true splurge, skirt, top, and crocheted wrap at $78. Normally I would get at least 5, 6 or more pieces for that amount of money.

Splurge? The best I can come up with is I bought 3 pairs of pants and a few shirts. Just went back to work after being a sahm for the past 19 years. Oooh, and guess where I'm working?? Target!!
I should add, I bought all of my work clothes at Goodwill. (less than $20 total!) Teehee.

Mine would be a 4 week old blue quaker parrot a couple of weeks ago. I've had green quakers before and always wanted a blue baby. And the hand feeding formula for her.
I did get a really great deal on a cage for her- free!
