i just heard this...we just spent the wknd at one of the cabins at mountain lake where they filmed the biggest part of dirty dancing...he stayetd in room 332 there and one of our group was working there at the time and she said he was so nice, mingled with staff and rode his motorcycle all around the place...she said baby stayed in blacksburg because the hotel was not nice enough for her..the hotels were better in blacksburg..it was wonderful to actually see the rooms they did the movie in and to take pictures right there ...of course the lake is in one of its emptying modes right now but it was still beautiful!! here is the link Mountain Lake Hotel: Home Page

Jaboomer.........how neat you actually visited the place where Dirty Dancin was filmed! I knew soon we would hear of his passing, but it's still so very sad. I think I may rent Dirty Dancin and Ghost this weekend for my kids to see. He really was at his prime with these two movies.

I feel so bad for his family. By all accounts, he had a fantastic relationship with his wife and I'm sure she is completely devastated. I was so impressed with his will to live and his dignity during his battle with cancer. What a great guy.
