Advice for my dog (continued)

I cannot see the post counts, but I think the other thread was locked because it reached the posting limit...

Anyway, to update you all. We had a vet appointment yesterday and she is doing much better. Still a little stiff legged gait in the hind legs, but hardly falling at all or stumbling. We still don't know what caused this, but we have to wait until we can find either some money or an alternative to the expensive testing they want to do. One vet wanted to do a spinal tap. Not sure what that will accomplish but I don't think I want to put her through that. I have heard it's very painful. She's been through so much lately.

She's on Doxycycline. The vet said it was just in case this has something to do with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, which you get from ticks. We haven't found any on her at all, but I guess better safe than sorry. We haven't completely ruled out the cancer, but the testing so far did rule out the one particular type the vet was worried about. And the prednisone seems to be working well so that's another mark in the inflammation or bad disc column. Which honestly I would rather have than cancer. I have back issues and I know how painful it can be.

I am grateful for all of your support and prayers. I truly believe that the comfort and good thoughts and prayers you get from others really does help people (and pets) get better. Thank you all so much I will continue to update you all as I find out more. Duchess sends her love also
