Have any of you seen the documentary, The way we get by? If not and you have some spare time, you might want to google it and at least watch the clip of it. It is wonderful. It deals with the troop greeters in Bangor, Maine. Most of the greeters are retired military who have lived thru previous wars. They have been there since the first flight left, and will be there when the last one returns home! Early morining, middle of the night, it doesn't matter.....they are there! Watching this documentary really helps to understand the sacrifice our military makes to keep us safe. They have been showing it at our local movie theatre, and have decided to run it longer than originally expected, because they have had such a great response.

I actually did see that. It's amazing. God Bless 'em!

I'm crying so hard I can hardly type this. I am going to see that movie when it comes here.

Looks pretty impressive. The closest location for me is 5 hours away. I sent an email to a local theater asking if they might consider a showing. I also signed up to pre-order the DVD.

I've seen the clips, and would love to see the whole documentary. Each time DH was on his way home, he had such wonderful things to say about landing in Maine. One of the few times he really felt appreciated for what he does. These folks are a true blessing~

You can actually buy the video locally here in Maine. My aunt and uncle are part of the troop greeters. Their dog (a Newfoundland), just got trained to be part of the group and they just started taking him to greet the military flights a few weeks ago. It been a very eye opening experience for them.
