Drink a few beers. Seriously. My husband, nephew and brother-in-law have all had kidney stones. I don't know what it is, but it works in a lot of cases. It can't hurt to try it. Just don't drink them and take the pain meds at the same time. Hope you feel better soon.

Aw hon sorry to hear your not feeling well, I know about the side effects of pain meds they are suppose to bring us relief but sometimes they cause more harm then good. Can i suggest calling your primary doctor and asking if they could prescribe you some other pain medication. If the pain becomes worse you might have to go back to the e.r for relief. Also how about a heating pad I love those for my cramps. A sincere prayer you feel better soon kindly keep us posted. Feel better and peace. Catherine

My husband would feel better raking the yard. I don't know if it was the motion or what. Keep drinking lots of liquids. My husband ended up having his blasted. He was miserable, but only tried to take the pain medicine at night.

![]() Last week I had an ultrasound to see if I have kidney stones but compared to the pain you are describing mine was mild. I totally know what you mean about the painkillers I took some and WHOA I felt instantly drunk/dizzy and sleepy I just went to bed for fear I would pass out if I was walking around. Hope you feel better soon. |

*sigh* I have more experience w/ kidney stones than the average person. My dad suffers from them, both my sisters have had them, I've had them once---and my poor baby boy had his first @ 7 y/o (on Thanksgiving none the less!). Sometimes soaking in a hot tub/whirlpool (or hot bath) will help w/ the pain. drink water, cranberry juice, apple juice---but mostly water and you should get it to move. Kidney stones become a problem if they form a blockage. Pain meds and anti-nasaeu (SP) medication (phenergan or zofran) are usually the only things that can get me past the pain. And yes, they do make you feel goofy, but the pain pills also help the body relax--which allows the structures of the kidneys (bladder, urethra, ureters) relax as well, which can help the stone(s) to pass. (the position that I found the helped w/ the pain was on my hands and knees with my back arched like a cat...)
