John Edwards..can he get any slimier?

I've been hearing how he said he would marry his mistress after his wife died. That's one of the most disgusting things I think I have heard in politics. Doesn't get much lower than lining up your next wife (and having a child) while your current wife battles stage 4 cancer.

How soon they forget. . .

Newt

Edwards turned out to be lower than a pregnant snake, no doubt about it. Guess he thought he could get away with the kind of behavior Newt's turned into an art form.

I heard the same thing, OP and I totally agree, what a piece of *&^% Edwards is ! His horse-face home-wrecking mistress is no better. God save the kids.

Are you really trying to turn this into a Dem vs Rep issue? Seriously, I doubt the OP was thinking Edwards is a Dem when she posted this thread. We could go back through history and find scumbags in both parties. The ratio is probably 50:50. They (Edwards/Gingrich) have both behaved disgustingly, on that I will agree.

No matter what J. E.'s political affiliation, he's a jerk for cheating on Elizabeth like that, esp. since she's been so sick with cancer.

Well, as sorry as I feel for the wife's medical problems, the two of them deserve each other. She knew about all this crap yet was willing to allow him to run for prez. Did she want to be the first lady so bad that she was willing to keep this all hidden?

Also in this newest development, SHE supposedly is the one holding out permission for Edwards to announce the paternity in public. She wasn't "on board" with it. **sigh**

She is famous for that. She thinks all dems are saints. Even Clinton who had an affair.

Are you sure she didnt want all this to come out???? and spoil his career? Seems to me (being the cheated on wife) this a bit of her revenge.

Angry

Anyone who cheats on their his or her spouses are lowlifes, whatever political party you belong too means NOTHING. That also goes for famous people, non famous people, and even John Edwards, plain and simple, your not happy, you tried to work things out to be resolved in your marriage the both of you have tried all means to make the marriage work. In the end you come to the conclusion you do not love each other no more and the best thing to do to part and divorce and move on and then find someone new. Cheating is never ever an excuse is disgusting. And of course we can go way back in history on both sides of face especially for me who really like Clinton, but once he did all he did I Hate him, to bold face lie to his wife and then to his family and then to us as nation, he was done in my eyes democrat and all. Peace. Catherine

I've never been in a situation like this (thank God) but I keep thinking that if I were the "other woman", I wouldn't put much faith in a man who cheats on his wife. That he would basically abandon his commitment to his wife speaks volumes to his lack of character. The mistress can see how her future will unfold -- he'll cheat on her too and most likely not be there for her if the going gets tough. I guess that speaks volumes to her lack of character as well (that she is willing to be with a man like this).

Seriously, I think you couldn't be more wrong. She would never have posted this about a GOPer.

Your ignorance is showing. Or maybe you couldn't even read my first post in this thread? Need someone to read it to you, perhaps?

Sure I would. This is totally disgusting. My coworkers wife just made the 5 yr mark with stage 4 cancer so I am really sensitive to Elizabeths plight right now.

I thought the same thing about the mistress-why would she ever trust him? He's lied about her and the baby continuously, even when it's out there.

I heard this on Anderson Cooper last night. He had a guest on who is/was a friend of the mistress. I had also heard about it from Geraldo over the weekend but waited until it was discussed on a non-Fox channel to post! No one would have believed it if my source was Fox. lol

As for Elizabeth-I suppose at this point, battling for your life, you aren't really in a good position to start a new life. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors. All I know is, he sure seems like a pig!!!

You know it looks to me like you are agreeing with my post. It's too bad you can't just leave it at that. Instead you try to stir the pot. That's too bad.

I agree with the other posters on here-there are bad people in all walks of life.

I guess I just missed your rant over Newt's behavior. And Mark Sanford's. David Vitter's. Mark Foley's. Larry Craig's. John Ensign's.

Unhappy

I remembered I watched the interview Oprah did with Elizabeth at their home and I truly felt sorry for her because as she said after 4 children and so many years and all her hard work at the marriage and home and helping him with his career, for this other women to know he was married and come into a relationship with a married man, as ELizabeth put it, start with someone else I worked all these years . However Elizabeth choose to forgive her husband and thats her choice, I guess we can all here say what is right or wrong for me personally while I love my husband dearly I could not forgive the hurt would be more then I could ever ever live with. Also while I know this women was not alone its take 2 to have an affair, I sometimes wonder how people find it so easy to have an affair, it would literally kill me inside emotionally , physically and mentality. In the end again no matter what whoever the cheater is , it can happen to anyone and it does and always will.Peace. Catherine

It makes no never mind to me that Edwards is a democrat, he could be a republican, independent, circus performer, reality show star, etc., and it would not change the fact one iota that what he did was sleezy.

Cheating on a seriously ill spouse AND being dumb enough on top of that to have a "love child" result from the affair is slimey no matter who you are or what your position in society is.

I don't understand why his wife didn't string him up by his goodies when she found out what he did. My only guess is she has some big ace up her sleeve that she's waiting for the right time to play. I wouldn't blame her a bit if she is.

I can't help but wonder if there is any truth to the rumors that he promised to marry the other woman once his wife died.

I saw the same interview. I thought that Elizabeth was in heavy denial. I think she actually believed that the child was not her husbands. I thought it was very sad....

I am sure I read that she said she was told about the affair by hubby before the presidential election process began. She knew about the affair and still "allowed" him to run. I still say, she wanted to be in the WH as the poster woman for cancer
