Sleep Number mattress? Your thoughts?

Hey,

Do any of you have the Sleep Number mattress? What do you think of it? DH and I are getting more and more miserable on our old mattress, so I just ordered a sleep number one - should be delivered in less than 14 days. It has a 30 day "trial period" so I figured I didn't have much to lose. Do any of you LOVE your mattress? Any Sleep Number experiences?

Thanks!

Kim

I, personally could never live without my waterbed. So I can't personally express an opinion about the number bed, but my cousin and his wife have one and they really like it.
Good luck with it. I hope you really love it.

We slept on a Sleep Number bed last summer. My in-laws had ordered one and did not like it, so it ended up in the guest room. We did not like it either, along with everyone else that has ever slept in her guest room. She had a queen size bed and the "railing" (for lack of a better word) around the inflatable part was so big. It didn't leave much room for the inflatable part...and the railing is hard. My husband, who is 6'3" did not fit within the little space. It didn't leave much room for cuddling either, since you would have to lay on this railing in the center of the bed.

Hope this helps!

Yikes. That doesn't sound good... I'm thinking of canceling my order now, so any other feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Kim

We did the free 3 month trial about 5 years ago and hated it. Then it costs about $200 to send back.

We have a foam mattress (got it at Denver Mattress) and love it. Best bed I've ever slept on

We bought one about 1 1/2 years ago. It was okay at first, but now we both wished we wouldn't have gotten it. Hubby and I have such different numbers and I roll to the center of the bed when he's not in it. It's also a little hard to get "busy" on it. LOL You have to pick a side.

We have one for about four years, no problems with it. My hubby has a bad back and finds this to help. As for me, doesn't really matter, I can sleep anywhere. I do like the fact that you can adjust the firmness. We did go to the store to order it and tried it there. I know they charge money to send it back.

We have one that's not the name brand but it was expensive none the less. It's OK but I'm not impressed at all. I don't find it comfortable at all. To be soft, basically you are sleeping in a hole and for hard you are on a big hump. If you really want a comfortable mattress, try and find a Latex mattress. You will probably have to go to a high end store to find one but they are wonderful for a bad back. Plus it will last for YEARS!!!!!

We slept on one at a hotel we stayed at. I hated it. I was all excited when we booked the rooms as that was one of the things they tooted as special about the room. I honestly wouldn't waste my money on it.

Now Tempurpedic those really are nice in my opinion.

We were thinking about getting one... after reading reviews we decided against it and went with Tempur Pedic. One of the posters on a review boards regarding the sleep number said it is a "4000.00 air mattress and they forgot to send the tent..."

The first 5 years of marriage we had a regular mattress. Then for 25 years we had waterbeds. About 5 years ago, we got a sleep number because my parents had one and loved it. We have not had any problems. We love it. We also have the base that raises the head or feet or vibrates. I wish we could find it in hotels.

Not only do we find it comfortable but it is easy to move if we want to change the room. If we move, it will be easy to take apart and ship.

To the poster that mentioned the "railing", they may have put it together wrong.
My parents had one in there guest room too. They had to replace a part, and my brother put it together wrong. When we were to sleep on it one night, we noticed that my brother had put the railing on the outside of everything. It should have been part of the inner works of the mattress. After we fixed it, people had no problems with it.

sleep number bed

Hi. Ive had my sleep number bed for 3 years now. I LOVE IT! We got it because I have a bad back ( degerative arthritis), our old mattress was SO hard...it hurt my hips and I didnt sleep well. Now I cant wait to get in bed and I sleep great. Better yet I actually feel better when I get up in the morning because ive slept so good!! We got the bed in boxes (came quickly) and we put it together ourselves. It was easy...very good directions...nothing difficult. Any questions we have ever had were answered by the excellent customer service dept. I have to tell you we love it as much 3 years later as we did when it was brand new!! Annette

Hate that I missed your question until now...We've had out Select Comfort/Sleep Number bed for over 10 years and we love it. Can't sleep on anything else! We have a queen and king size and it does make a huge difference...the king sleeps better because the air chambers are larger. If something crapped out today on the king size, I'd order another one.

My off brand air mattress bed sprung a leak while I was pregnant. I would wake up in a hole. Never got an air mattress bed again. We went back to a normal mattress.

I really appreciate all of the feedback. I did call to cancel and they offered me a no-risk guarantee, so I can have the 30 day trial with free return shipping if we decide it's not for us. I would be out the original delivery and set up fees, but that is a risk I'm willing to take. They will also haul off the old mattress, so it is worth it for me.

Thanks so much again for all the feedback. I'll update and tell ya'll how we like it.

Kim

Dear Kim -
I own series 5000 in a King Size bed and a 7000 King Size and two 4000 full sized beds . I'll tell you my story . I first owned many years ago a Beauty Rest Bed we all heard about them I am sure . Well the guarantee was for twenty years but the big deal was you had to keep your receipt and we had a flood and couldn't prove when we bought it . The man came and knew what year it was from the label on the bed, measured the bed with a yardstick for depth of use to pro-rate it as he removed it and took it with him and now I had to with a letter sent back to me soon send $300 for every 3 months and guess when we bought it and from whom ? As they were out of business . It could have costed us $1200 and then gotten pro-rated before it was all said and done and what aggravation from them Beauty Rest that is .
All this time I was going back and forth day after day after work as I was a tractor trailer driver traveling 650 miles a day and sure was tired each day looking for a good nights sleep . So what better way to find a bed then tp look around at every place in town that sold beds for over a year and a half . Select Comfort knew me by my first name when I walked in their store and never got hustled out once. Always treated me like a customer. I always fell asleep quickly on their beds and tested each one of them daily until one of them presented me with a proposal to try one of their beds in my home for 90 days which was going on during that time not sure if they still do that or not now and if not delighted they would pick it up free of charge providing I would save all the boxes etc.. Well needless to say - the first 5000 was just superb . My lower backache I had was gone with two months. Probably caused from those springs that had sprung ! Now there's no more springs just air ! It was easy to put together . Now I own four beds . From all the recommending to all of my friends I got one of my beds "FREE". for one of my children . This is a very reputable company . You will be excited with your buy once you sleep on air with your partner or without . The ability to have each of you sleep with two separate chambers of air softnesses or one firmer then the other can't be beat. I compared all the competitors warranties with Select Comfort this is where you will find a MAJOR DIFFERENCE for the better . DOn't throw away your good hard earned money . Put in a place that you can trust that will there tomorrow . My bet is with Select Comfort . If you could afford it stay with the best ! I know Quality when I see it . They stand 100 % behind there products .
Now one more thing - last year I bought from them to save on electricity is turning off the thermostat at night without freezing myself out of home . I did this thru a dual controlled heater blanket with a 10 hour timer that shuts off automatically in case you forget that is washable as well and is so comfy you just wouldn'y believe ...Try it you'll LOVE IT ! Select Comfort Warming Blanket ....Kingpin1229 I hope this answers your questions !

LOVE LOVE LOVE my sleep number bed

We just got our second one this summer. Our original one we took to our cottage at the lake and got a newer one for home.
We got the super deluxe one this time. It is a split king size. You can raise the head up (good for my breathing problems) and also raise up the foot (good for hubby's hurting, tired legs). Each side works independantly for that sleepers comfort. It also has a massaging vibration for either the top half of your body, or the bottom half of your body, or whole body. It is so great!

We just love the sleep number bed and have a difficult time sleeping when we go to a motel or someone else's house to sleep over.

I think you will just love the bed. Give it a chance.
We took it apart one summer when we painted the room and couldn't get it together again! Called the 800 number and the lady was so helpful. This time when we moved the older one to the cottage we took digital pictures as we took it apart--it went together like a dream.

Find a store and you can try all the different models. They even have a dog bed!
