Peace.Catherine

It is a video of children singing a song dedicated to and praising Barrack Hussein Obama. School children. Public school children. This is still the US right? Regardless of the election, or what side you are on, or the difficult times, this should trouble you. I realize that we are not all believers here, but last I checked Obama was not God, and He is the only one that deserves my praise.

Obama is just a man. He is not a god, he is not a saviour. He is a man, plan and simple. To teach children to "praise" him is just beyond freaky. Teach them to respect him (or more specifically the office of President), but to sing a song in his praise? Too weird. If there is video of someone/anyone indoctrinating children in a similar manner pertaining to Fmr President Bush, please will someone show me?

I REALLY hate to say this...lol...but it's on FOX. OK so let's get past that... Apparently the pricipal or superintendant, I forget which, is defending this. She would do it again, and parents had no idea this was being taught to their children. Now if it's happening in one school, you know it's going on in others. This is not ok and actually makes me want to cry. It scares me in a weird way. This will not end well.

Before anyone says I am comparing Obama to Hitler, let me say that I am not comparing Obama to Hitler. This video reminded me of movies you see of German schoolchildren singing about Hitler and how wonderful he was. It was just creepy and on the verge of being religious and cultish. |

It's frightening that 1) there are educators who promote this sort of thing, 2) that there are people who believe this that are teaching our kids! 3) There are people that don't see this as a gross error in judgment (at best)....this just freak me out!

I only see further trouble if this video is carried out and played in more schools across America agreed it should not be played not it is more then the point of not everyone in agreement with Obama , there are certain lessons or praising that should be left to be learned at home by parents just my personal belief. Peace. Catherine

This was poor form on the part of the teacher. However, I seriously doubt the current administration has anything to do with it. Any more than President Bush had anything to do with the above video. Crap happens ... it just shows people are idiots on both ends of the spectrum. |

This is the very reason Religion and Politics should be kept out of schools. The video i viewed on youtube has some kind of weird sounding music in the back ground. Made it even MORE creepy. Here's the lyrics to the songs. Song 1: Mm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said that all must lend a hand To make this country strong again Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said we must be fair today Equal work means equal pay Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said that we must take a stand To make sure everyone gets a chance Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said red, yellow, black or white All are equal in his sight Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama Yes! Mmm, mmm, mm Barack Hussein Obama Song 2: Hello, Mr. President we honor you today! For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say "hooray!" Hooray, Mr. President! You're number one! The first black American to lead this great nation! Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans To make this country's economy number one again! Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you! And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue! So continue ---- Mr. President we know you'll do the trick So here's a hearty hip-hooray ---- Hip, hip hooray! Hip, hip hooray! Hip, hip hooray! |

I don't blame the parents for being upset. They should have been ASKED if their child could do this. This is just creepy !. This however was in Church right ?/ Not that is makes much difference , but at least there you are studying about God and giving praises, even tho it's sickening to know its for a President instead of God. But in School theres a HUGE difference to hand pick children to do this and not even inform the parents that its being done. This world has gone crazy as hell these days. ! |

It was an idiot thing for the teacher to do considering all the crazy wingnuts and the hysteria surrounding anything Obama for that last year. However, let's look at the words He said that all must lend a hand, To make this country strong again He said we must be fair today, Equal work means equal pay He said that we must take a stand, To make sure everyone gets a chance He said red, yellow, black or white, All are equal in his sight LOL --- such horrible concepts |
| ||||
|
To nightowlrn as I am one myself lol, they are not horrible concepts as you know how I feel about President Obama , however like I said with the way the country is now so divided and in such trouble and with the war and all and so on and so forth , we do not need any more trouble and personally I just feel that so many parents would only get further upset who already do not like Obama and then have their children come home and tell them that they watched this video. Someone brought up religion in school now with , I personally would not mind if my child viewed a video or if someone came to the school to speak as long as it just to learn something about the religion and not to be asked to purswaded to change his or her religious beliefs...Peace. There seems to be some confusion as to whether a song was ever sung by children to sing the praises of former President Bush....... ".....back in 2006 children from Gulf Coast states serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the President, Congress, and Federal Emergency Management Agency for their response to -- of all things -- Hurricane Katrina. The lyrics were as follow: "Our country's stood beside us People have sent us aid. Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade. Congress, Bush and FEMA People across our land Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!" The event took place at that year's White House Easter Egg Roll and included roughly 100 children from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. President Bush, it seems, wasn't in attendance during the song itself. But he was there earlier, when the First Lady read the book, Will You Be My Friend: A Bunny and Bird Story by Nancy Tafuri, to the children. "After the reading," the Wall Street Journal reported at the time, "Mr. Bush asked, 'Did you like this book? Does it tell you about what people can do to help other people, what bird did to help bunny? Be kind to him and give him shelter.'" But throughout the years there have been many songs dedicated to people other people feel are inspirational or whatever.....Elton John sang that song for Princess Di, Carly Simon sang the song that could have been about Mick Jagger or Warren Beatty depending who you listen to. I am not sure why there is such an uproar. I do not remember even hearing about when the song was sang in Pres. Bush's honor nor when the song English Rose was sang for Princess Di. Why is there such an uproar now. Is it hard to believe that there are people who admire or are inspired by Pres. Obama? No need for anyone to answer this question as it is a rhetorical one. I already know the answer from those people who listen for Nazism everywhere or wear their little tin foil hats.

The song that Elton John sang for Princess Di is a bit different: he, as an individual took one of HIS songs and altered it specifically for her funeral. If memory serves correct he had met Princess Di on numerous occasions so it was more of a personal tribute. He wasn't making impressionable children sing it. I do think people are inspired by and admire Pres. Obama. Heck! I think his fractured family and that he was raised by his grandparents is a huge inspiration for many children. Especially minority children who seem to have a higher rate of fractured families/single parent households. It's just creepy that the inspiration and admiration has evolved into what appears to be worshipping him and placing him on a pedastal far above the norm with some people. Oh, and I'm a little offended that you seem to imply I feed into the whole Nazism and tin foil hat wearing crowd. While I don't particularly care for Obama, I didn't like Bush either--and it was because I didn't agree with the policies, or how they handled certain situations. Not because I believe all the conspiracy theories.

I don't understand the Bush song situation completely, so maybe I am incorrect, but the cut and paste above sounds like it was a group of children put together to sing a song at an event -kids from various places, and we're not sure how they were selected, etc. I don't think it's splitting hairs to say that there is a difference between a group of children who tried out for a spot in a private 'chorus' that is singing for an event and school children having a teacher use that as part of her curriculum. I think parents are free to indoctrinate their children politically if that's what they choose to do, but I don't think the school should take on that role. If the kids at the White House were there as a result of their families arranging for them to be part of that performance, that is okay by me. But it wouldn't be okay for a tax-supported school system to promote a politician through and to the students. |

I think the public schools should stick to what they're paid to do --- teach the children how to read, write and do math. Leave the politics OUT of the public schools, especially singing the praises of a president who has nothing to be praised for. For that matter, any president, past and future.

Funny you should say that, mom2. That thought crossed my mind, because I know we sing songs about past presidents. I remember one from my childhood to the tune of Maple Leaf Rag.... Take a G and an E and an O... And add a little R-G-E... To a double "U" (W), A-S-H I N G When you add two thousand pounds That makes a ton. Whadda ya got? Ya got a lot! George Washing-ton! I'd say Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln we can sing about. That whole Louisiana Purchase thing turned out to be a pretty good deal all around... lol... as did the end of slavery and the launching of a nation. Otherwise, mum's the word. |

It was the annual President's Day song we always sang in grade school... and since President's Day is connected to Lincoln and Washington's birthdays (at least if I remember correctly it is...) I guess if we're going to have a national holiday for them, songs about them are okay in school! |
