Question Any PRICELINE.COM Users?

I was just wondering if anyone has ever used priceline.com for a hotel and what your experience with it was?
We are going to NY for the Yankees game Saturday and since it is suppose to rain and the game starts at 8pm we are now wanting to stay the night (esp. since it might be rain delayed).
We have stayed around Times Square in the past and have paid no where near the prices that all sites and hotels are listing so I am tempted to use priceline but I just do not know.
I thought I would come here are ask.
Thank you
Robin

I use it often and always check BiddingForTravel.com - The informed Priceline Travel Bidding Forum first. That will make your bid an educated one!

I have managed to get some great deals at Priceline. I managed to get a four star hotel in Boston for around $100 a night. You have to do some research and know what to bid, but the payoff is worth the extra effort. I also got a great deal last year on hotels and a rental car in Florida. It usually end up paying half price.

We did the Bidding for Travel also for our disneyland trip and ended up with the Hyatt(Anaheim) for $38 a night for 3 nights. It's completely worth it!

Used it several times without a problem. Visit BiddingForTravel.com - Message Board - Yuku to get an idea of what bids are being excepted and what hotels people are getting.

We've used it a lot too and through Bidding for Travel site. I would have to say that we've been less then satisfied if we've stayed at a motel that wasn't 3 or more stars. Also, once we got a great deal on a week long stay at an older Marriott in Monterey, CA. Besides the mildew and basketball team living above us, water bottles were $10 each and there was some sort of "resort fee" that we weren't aware of that added up quickly and we were billed at the end of our stay.

You do tend to get what you pay for is what I guess I'm saying.

The Monterey experience was around 4 years ago. Maybe things have improved but the review at Bidding for Travel are informative so be sure to research a bit first.

I have never put a bid in on a hotel that wasn't at least a three star. One of the things I found when researching is that it is not a good idea to bid on anything less then a three star. You usually don't get a very good deal. When bidding, it is a good idea to do research and don't go lower than three star...

Thank you everyone!! I did go ahead and bid on several areas but none of my bids were accepted and with the cost that I was going to spend I got a room on another site. I will think about using them in the future though. Thanks again. I always know where to turn when I have a question!! mycoupons.com members are the best!!!
