Question No-fail pick-me-ups?

When you're down in the dumps and/or feeling kinda blue, what do you do to rejuvenate? What are your tried-and-true techniques for revving yourself up?

There is a few things I do:

This may sound odd but I do kid stuff. I have a basket in my livingroom with coloring books and crayons, so I will take them out and maybe put on a disney movie (Or other kid movie) and just lock myself in my bedtoom for hours watching movies and coloring

If the weather is nice, I will go for a long walk or drive to the shore

If I am really down, I usually see if any of the neices or nephews want to do something, usually doing something with the kids picks me right up

Go to an AA meeting. Take a nap. Make a gratitude list. Read something uplifting. Eat some comfort food. Do something to help someone else. ~Lisa

A trashy romance novel read while in a bubble bath. It's very girly and about the only me-time I get.

When I was still living in Massachusetts, I would go to the beach. Something about seeing how big the world is as you stare off into the ocean always made me feel better.

Down here I simply wait for the sun to set. The colors at the end of the day are very soothing. If all else fails, I go to Disney World.

Target shopping, chocolate (or eating comfort foods), or Starbucks.

I used to love Target shopping too as a pick me up ! Now it is not cost effective, the nearest one is an hour away. I love to read a book, I treat myself to one every payday. I also like to eat choc. and watch I LOve Lucy re-runs.

I call my mom. Or my sister for a good laugh.

I watch and old 80's teen movie.

Bake cupcakes.

And the sure fire way to "come on and get happy" for me is sex -- I didn't marry a "magazine pretty" man to let that go to waste. (Hmmmm, hence the reason I am knocked up?)

Call my best friend, that usually helps.

Chocolate is my friend!

A pot of flavored coffee, and a good book.

Music, reading, walking outside no matter the weather. In my current situation I tend to stay away from people as they tend to constantly "remind" me of the reason I'm feeling down in the first place. T
Chocolate (in small amounts) comedies, losing myself in something.

I listen to upbeat music. Love the oldies from when DH and I were dating and first married. I do a quick Pilates workout (about 15 minutes). Take my little dog out for a walk. Sit outside on my swing on my front porch or go to the back deck and look through the woods to the lake.

I'm working a graveyard shift now and had a little time on my hands last night, so I gave your question some thought.

Read to the to of "My Favorite Things"

Sunshine on my face and
Children with quiet toys
Smiles that reach eyes
and Wanglers on cowboys
Passionate kisses that end with a zing
These are a few of my favorite things

Chocolate on ice cream and
blue colored guitars
Red dogs and green frogs and quick wishing stars
Search using Google and not using Bing
These are a few of my favorite things

Men with grey beards and with green shining eyes
Red satin panties and long satisfied sighs
Savings and coupons and big sales Cha Ching
These are a few of my favorite things

When my job bites
When the bill stings
When I'm feeling fat
I simply remember my favorite things
and then I don't feel so bad.

OK I tend to get a little silly in the middle of the night.
I hope this made you smile and helps blow the blahs away.

Figure out if you are an introvert or extrovert. Then do something for yourself that recharges you. To know if you are an innie or an outie, it is all about how you recharge. If you like to be alone and read a book or do something solitary, you are an introvert. If you get charged by being around people, then do something people oriented.

If its daytime and I can get a ride I do love going to Starbucks and getting a non-fat, sugar-free vanilla latte and perhaps a small bite to eat, although I try to avoid the really high-calorie options.

Otherwise, chocolate is always nice, playing with my 7 rescued cats, and when all else fails I put on some music I like, but refuse to admit to anybody I do - and boogie around the room like nobody is watching. Although that usually ends with me realizing at least one of my cats thinks I look like an idiot - but what else is new.

Shopping to buy gifts for other people is nice too, its often more emotionally satisfying then buying stuff for myself.

I find it makes me feel better sometimes to isolate myself in the bedroom and especially with it being cold outside, turn the electric blanket on, snuggle in the covers with a cup of cocoa or hot tea and read a book. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but to me it makes me feel safe and just comfy, like nothing can bother me in that room unless I let it.

I've been known to do this too. In my own mind, I feel like if I need a bit of a pick me up, why should I knowingly place myself around the people that make me feel down and out in the first place. That's why a lot of times I isolate myself in the bedroom when my MIL comes over. I leave the room and don't have to listen to my husband and her fuss at each other . Does that sound horrible? LOL
