Slim Fast Optima shakes/drinks?

Does anyone drink the Slim Fast shakes - the pre-made ones? Can anyone let me know how the flavors are?

DH needs to lose 50 pounds. I got him the cappuccino ones yesterday and he thought it was good enough. He told me to pick up more today (on sale for $1/can in the 6pk at Safeway).

However, I would like to know what anyone thinks of the other flavors. Particularly the chocolate and vanilla.

Thanks! This is going to be a long road for him - he loves his fast food. We are picking a horrible time to start watching the calories too - right before the holidays.

The chocolate is good, I like the vanilla better. I drink them both from time to time, I guess it just depends on the person.
Some times you can find slim-fast at a gas station in the single cans if you want to try the other flavors.

Goodluck

I might suggest making smaller goals. Like 10 pounds by Christmas. Then, 10 pounds by Valentines Day. Or, a "no fast food except lunch on Saturday" rule or some rule that doesn't deny enjoyment, but that does control the amount. Also, unless he just needs to lose weight to meet some temporary goal like a fitness test or health insurance, liquid diets without changing life long eating habits don't tend to have lasting effects.

For my husband - I just remind him about all the negative sexual side effects of obesity and he gets back to healthy eating and exercising.

Good luck to you both.

GOOD FOR HIM!!!
I enjoy the chocolate drinks BUT I have the powder and make it with skim milk.
EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE is the way to go as well!!!
I agree that he should go with smaller goals and you feel like you have accomplished so much more!!
Dropping the sodas help as well.

His goal is to be from 248 currently, to 235 (or less) by the end of March. A goal that he can totally get to, with a little bit of initiative.

He injured his shoulder in June, and had surgery in July, so he has not been half as active as he is in the past.

Now that he is starting to heal, it is time for him to get active!

We have Wii Fit, the Wii Fit plus is due to arrive any day, and I just purchased an insturment of torture : an elliptical.

The slimfast is to supplement his breakfast at work. It does not help that he works in a kitchen, preparing food.

I agree with you about your dh getting active! The one biggest lesson I have learned is that you have to get exercise. It is so important for good health. There are plenty of skinny people out there that can't run a mile or do ten push ups. As I get older, I have found its more about *health*, not about fitting into a size 2! Start out slow on the new elliptical, and before you know it, he may even look forward to the stress relief that comes with exercise! Good Luck..

Just doing 3 minutes on the elliptical, for me, is torture! My goal is to work up to a half hour. We have it in the front room, and it is quiet, so we can do it while watching tv.
