What version of Word is the person sending you the document using? Sounds like maybe they have a newer version. They'll probably need to select "Save As" and then look for Microsoft Word 2003 under the "Save as Type" option. I think there might be a free conversion program available to download, but I don't know much about it. I'll ask at work. I think one or two people needed it to be able to read Word for Vista documents.

| I'm sorry, we got really busy today and I completely forgot to ask about the conversion program. I will try to remember to ask tomorrow. I'm thinking it may be something that is just available to our university staff, but I'm really not sure. I do think that the person sending you the document should be able to fairly easily save it as a Word 2003 document and then send it to you and you should have no problems with the formatting.

I'm pretty much computer illiterate. But a while ago I and a lot of the other recipients were having problems reading the Word Documents being sent from headquarters. I don't remember what program the coordinator was using. As I recall, to fix the problem I did a Google Search and found out how to change the file association for those documents. Haven't had a problem since. |

Craz4u3, have you found out what version of Word the other person is using? I finally remembered to ask my IT people about the conversion program. If they are using the newer version of Word (2007), here is the link to download the compatibility pack: Download details: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats If they aren't using a different version, then I don't know what to tell you (unless they aren't using Word at all, and are using Works or some other word processing program).
