I'm busy decorating the yard. Today I put out my expensive stuff, like my mechanical life size figures, etc... It's really windy here so I'm not putting out as much as usual. Oh well. GO HAWKS!!!

It" 72 in NH tonight. Great night for the kids to be out. Got a few lights up. Didn't go all out this year like I have when the kids were little.

It was a great night in Va. Beach-the weather was perfect. And I must say, for the first time in 19 years, I didn't have to go TOT'ing with the kids! The boys were on their own tonight, and came back with pillowcases that weighed more than they do. DH and I enjoyed sitting on the front porch and greeting the little ghouls. We gave out sodas or juice boxes, and candy. We went through 3 cases of soda, 3 boxes of Capri Sun, and almost all of our candy. I felt a twinge of embarrassment sending my kids out in "Homemade Costumes." Although we are struggling, we do live in a pretty upscale neighborhood. It was refreshing to see, that there were only a handful of store bought costumes. It was enjoyable to see the creativity of the kids. And it was funny to see all of the Dads supervising the kids , with cocktail in hand. It was a good night.

This was my first Halloween as an empty nester-25 years of Halloween with kids. It wasn't too bad. I had 57 kids come to the door. Double last year. The house I used to live in-when my kids were younger-used to get about 250 kids! I decorated the yard big time and people came with cameras, etc... It was a "destination". My deco is scaled down but still good. At least good enough for two of the kids to not make it up to my door! lol One couple had a toddler and they were all dressed up as pirates. Cute! It was pretty cold here but clear skies so that helps. Right now (9:55pm) it's 33 degrees! I just love decorating and then seeing all the kids!! They're so cute. And it's also fun when the parents dress up.
