I went down the street this morning to get some more hummingbird feeders and maybe a few plants she might like. She hasn't been around as much today as yesterday.

I got several different plants including two butterfly weed bushes. They're milk weed and butterflies love that stuff. I get them home and am ready to plant them when I notice something. They came with butterflies!!

I've since found out that those are Monarch chrylis. Here's a great site showing the butterfly's transformation.

Only one plant had those on it and I've opted not to put it in the ground yet. Don't want to take a chance of knocking them off.

I wonder if Lowes would have charged me more if they had known the butterflies were attached?

Wow! I hate Lowe's, but I have to admit you got some cool plants for a butterfly lover. Can you actually see the 'eyes' on the butterfly's wings in the second picture, or is that just the reflection of something?

I'm not sure. When I got up this morning the dark brown one had turned almost see through so I suspect the butterfly will be hatching in the next couple of days. I'll be keeping a close eye on it and will take pictures if I see it happening.

And good news on my hummingbird. She's still here for the third day in a row.

Not a great picture but it gives you an idea of just how tiny these birds are. She's sitting to the left of the orange on my poor mostly dead orange tree. We were going to take the tree down but now that she's enjoying it, I told my husband if he touches it, he's toast.

Oh cool. I have one of those butterfly hatching kits, but I've never ordered the butterfllies. Next spring, I'm getting some milkweed and ordering butterflies. I never knew that the chrysalis changed colors so many times. They're pretty colors, too!
