Who was that handsome black man on the country music awards last night?

Okay you guys, on Good Morning America, they were talking about the country music awards, and bless her heart, Talor Swift apparently stole the show! (Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be KANYE!") LOL SO---on GMA this a.m. they were talking about it all, and this bald black man was on, the interview was so quick, I mssed his name, but he said "I am just glad people still know who I am!" Well, I didn't--- WHO was he?

I don't like country music, but I've just gotta know who that was. I cannot think of any black men who are country singers, except I thought Charlie Pride was a singer a couple of decades ago? And I thought he was blind??

It probably was Darius Rucker.
Here is an article that includes his picture.

Yea...I saw him snatch the award right off the stage and run down the aisle. LOL

He switched musical genres...is that unheard of in the history of entertainment??

I was thrilled to see Darius win his award. Taylor did win three of the biggest awards. Although I think she is very talented (Saw her in concert in July), I felt that her winning Entertainer of the Year, was a bit much. She didn't even headline her own tour during the time period used for the awards, she was an opening act for most of the others nominated for EOY! Although I felt she was good in concert, I thought she was really still in the *learning* phase as far as her performance, and came across way too dramatic on stage. JMHO

I have to agree... I think Taylor Swift winning Entertainer of the year was a bit much... Guess we can all thank KANYE for that!!
And my opinion as far as HOOTIE goes is this, in that category there were MANY others who were true country singers that were much better....

That's funny that you asked this question.
Last year at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (we were there) Darius was on one of the floats. Everyone around us kept asking who the heck is he and my husband, who knows very little about musicians, was the only one that knew and after he told everyone that it was HOOTIE the crowd started going nuts.

Actually I believe that the voting was complete before the whole Kanye mess.

I believe you are correct. With that being said, the timeframe used in selecting who would win was also months ago. It was done before Taylor even started her own tour, she was an opening act for some of the others who were nominated for EOTY. I think that is part of why I find her winning a bit odd. She didn't even have her own tour. I think its strange that someone could win EOTY and not even have their own tour. With her being so new to touring, she was the opening act for the more experienced singers, and after seeing her in concert, I think she has a great deal to learn about performing live. Its just hard to imagine where she will go from here, when she has won the biggest of all prizes at the age of 19!
