The Monarch butterfly in this chrysalis looks like it's just about ready to make an appearance. Sadly, the other two didn't make it but this one, I'm hoping, will break through some time today. Cool!





Then about 30 minutes ago this showed up in our front garden.





That's a giant hummingbird moth... nearly 4 inches long! Its actually name is the Pink-Spotted Hawk Moth.

I love seeing all these interesting creatures but I haven't accomplished much this morning.

One of the chrysalis that I thought was dead turned out to be alive and around 12:30 we had this appear.



I missed it coming out but it was still interesting watching it flex its wings getting ready to fly. Poor thing fell off the plant twice so I put my hand out and it walked right on. Then I placed it back on the plant.

The other chrysalis that I thought would hatch first is still working on it. Here's what they look like after the butterfly is out.



Very cool thing to see. First time I've been lucky enough to witness that.
