I have a friend who is going to Lancaster for the first time this weekend, and was looking for any advice as to places to see, eat and stay. I told her about the Green Dragon in Epherta that is only open on fridays, so she is going to stop there. Can anyone recommend anything else?

There are lots of family style big sit down places, being Amish Country and all. Does your friend have children? If so, ages? When we went, we went to the pretzel factory and watched them make pretzels, went to some really neat shops, went driving in the country to see all the farms and covered bridges, went to the train musuem and went on a train ride through Amish Country. As far as where to stay, we stayed in a caboose.

That group has constant ideas and suggestions.

Green Dragon is one farmer's market. I think it isn't as nice as Root's Farmer's Market....different days open though.

There are tons of local farmstand markets and a market in Bird-in-Hand as well.

Remember on Sundays most things are closed unless you do the main tourist strip on Route 30.
You could just stay on the tourist route and ride in a fake buggy but I think that is just sad, lol. Take a map and go explore all the small country roads and see the real area.
Intercourse is a small tourist town too, but nicer than the main drag on Route 30 with all the shopping outlets.
The Best Western Eden Resort is a nice place, very clean. I have had family stay there several times and they were pleased.
