Are there any particular Christmas decorations that you don't like?

I don't know why, because I love holidays and most decorations...but I don't like those light up wire looking reindeer that people put on their lawn. I just think that they are so ugly. What decorations don't you like?

I don't like the blow up ones that people put out front of their homes.

I am another one who doesn't care for the blow ups. A couple of small ones placed here and there are alright, but those people who use the giant ones all over their yard just look tacky in my opinion.

I don't like things that have nothing to do with Christmas. Cartoon characters that are not Christmas oriented like Sponge Bob or something I think are silly.

I agree with the others..saggy, baggy inflatables, having them all over your yard, faded by the sun ones, etc. Ugh !

I also don't like the "Look, Look ! I have a collection of molded plastic light up lawn decorations "..we lived near one in Va Bch and it just gave me ADHD to even glance at it.

Ah ha! I love you guys! I was JUST driving past someone's house in my sub. today and she had a TON of inflatables in her yard, it totally looks crass, and one of them was a spongebob with a santa hat on. Now what on earth does SPONGEBOB have to do with Christmas???

OK, I walked my dog and here are all the decorations in my upper middle class neighborhood...about a third have lighted reindeer..an entire herd of them ! one has giant christmas lights strung up like sidewalk lamps..she also has a lit North Pole this a way sign, and a waving santa..Many houses have HUGE lighted wreaths hanging over their garage. 3 or 4 have that "icicles" lights...one has giant snowflake lights that blink...there is one Nativity scene lighted, many snowmen lighted, no snow globes ( inflateables )..no molded plastic , and I just strung a strand of lights across my front porch rails.

The tackier, the better, I say. Every year a week or so before Christmas, my husband takes me on a tacky light tour. I love it!

One year, we took a bus tour of a neighborhood that competes. Here's a photo of one of the houses:

the very large XMAS lights on the house. They just look so...... 60's and outdated.

I think the blow up stuff, some of it is cute.

Yep, I hate those, too. We have a couple of houses on our street that have deflated blow-ups laying in the front yard all day until they inflate again in the evening. Really look tacky.

Bart Simpson inflatable. I have no idea how he symbolizes Christmas. Thank goodness he is in my parent's neighborhood so I don't have to see it often. Also not fond of colored lights, but don't tell my sister since her house is covered in them!!

Yes, the inflatables are a bit much. Anything that looks real and not over done always looks good. Green garland and wreaths a few red bows always look nice.

It is always funny to see the ones that seem to keep adding more and more stuff every year, and think more is better.

Those huge bell and ball ornaments (they sell them at Target). I don't know why, they just freak me out.

I don't like blinking lights. They came out when I was a kid and of course we bought them on clearance that year, but after putting them on the tree the next winter I decided I didn't like them at all. I love lots of lights as long as they stay lit, blinking on and off is a bummer.

Inflatables
Colored christmas trees-white, pink, gold, etc.

I also don't care for trees that are too formal/coordinating. They lack warmth and character. IMHO, the tree should be a collection of things accumulated over the years, preferably things with memories attached to them.

I hate those resin (or plastic?) nativity sets with animals dressed up as the shepherds, wise men, and Holy Family. To paraphrase an article I read some time ago about these things: excuse me, my Savior was not a cat!

"My Savior was not a cat" LOL!!! SO true, a cat would NEVER lay down it's life to save the human race. A dog, maybe. A cat, now way!

Ennadee, your post made me crack up!

I'm not religious in any way but I agree that the "role" of Baby Jesus should NOT be played by an animal.

I enjoy most of the outdoor lights, but since I have never seen a colored icicle, I don't like those!
I'm not crazy about the inflatables, especially the non-Christmas related ones such as the cartoon characters.
I do like houses and yards with lots and lots IF it is done tastefully!
I don't care for those HUGE wreaths unless they are on a very big house.
I also wonder when I see more than one Santa in a yard!
And I HATE seeing the Nativity being portrayed by animals or cartoon guys or anything but "the real thing".
Not crazy over fast blinking lights. Some that run kinda smooth are okay.
I don't care for houses and yards that are all white. Mostly white is pretty but at least a bit of colored is needed.
I don't really like the LED lights because the blue is so prominent and the red barely shows up at all.

I prefer all white lights. I think they are simple and elegant. I can't stand the colored ones that blink and run and flash. White lights seem peaceful to me.

Freer I agree with 100 percent we only only use white lights only on the tree and on the outside they are very peaceful to me as well and they remind me and my family of snow. I do not like all those colors too tacky for me... Peace. Catherine

I don't like the colored ones that blink or run or flash either. I see enough white snow that I don't need to see white lights too. LOL!

I think the giant ornaments are meant to be used outside, on outdoor garland, wreaths, etc.

They're still hideous, no matter where they're used. We got a good laugh at them while setting up the asile they're in.

I don't care for nativity scenes. Probably because I am not religious. Especially if they are cartoon ones which I would think to someone religious those would be offensive???

White lights that are not LED (I am a white light LED girl all the way so they are really sort of bluish)

Christmas lights on houses that "move" or "run"...it looks like an airport runway

I'm going for the inflatables being the worst offenders. The Santa on the motorcycle is pretty horrific too.

I have to have colored lights on my tree, it just wouldn't seem like Christmas without them!! I also have a gigantic tree, and spend lots of time just staring at it at night, it's so pretty.

There's a lot of decorations that I don't like in that I wouldn't use them in my own home - most mentioned here already - the big inflatables, blue lights, blinking and chaser lights, etc. BUT, I kinda of enjoy them all and like to see other people's style and creations and think it all adds to the fun and festivities of the season. In other words, "it's all good".

I agree, and it makes it even worse when it looks like they just threw them on their bushes and trees.UGLY!
Also dislike indoor christmas trees that have gobs of thick icicles thrown every which way all over the tree

Anything with Jesus AND Santa. It's religious, or it's not, so choose one. Also, 2008 Merry Christmas Blue Star Glass Ornament Sale Items – Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland is just confusing.
