My mom wants to take a trip to vegas with her friend. She's asked me to start looking for deals online, hotel, flight....no car needed. So I started looking on travelocity, but I'm so lost. Never been to vegas. No idea what to watch out for, good and bad.

If anyone has been there, any tourist-y tips sure would be appreciated! I know I can find some kind of package deal.... and she wants me to look for a deal for both of them, but then it occurred to me that only one of them needs to buy the flight + hotel pkg. and the other only the flight, and then they can split the cost of the room later on. Does that make sense? Or do they require you both to buy the hotel + flight package?

Oh God, I hate being given this job. ;( I just have no idea where to start!

There are so many hotel deals out there these days for Las Vegas. What's your budget? When are you going? What do you like to do?

My suggestion would be to stay away from package deals. You'll most likely save money by booking your hotel and flights on their own.
