Went to pick up pizzas last night at Pizza Hut, finally remembering a gift card I've had for a while from Discover rewards.

The gal said we can't take gift cards. Befuddled, I looked to be sure it was the PH card, and it was. I said, "well, it's a PH card"

She said yes, but for a few days they can't take them because someone bought 91 franchises and they can't take them. Then she added, I should just take the pizzas because they will have to zero them out anyway. She never asked for an alternate form of payment.

I said, "well that's interesting a PH can't take a PH gift card, I will go to the car and get money"

Out I go, back in I come and she says "no, really just take the pizza because we will have to zero it out:"

Befuddled again, I said but I am prepared to pay.

Nope, she wouldn't do it. So out the door I went with free pizzas.

That sounds very strange. I've worked in restaurants before and food that the customer can't or won't pick up is thrown in the trash and counted towards "waste"..which at the end of the month is calculated for food costs.
