Toot your OWN horn!!!

Here we go ladies (and gents), even you "hags" out there Let's all toot our own horns.

Don't have something to "toot" about??? It's not too late..... do a "toot worthy" thing over the weekend and tell the world about it....RIGHT HERE!!!!

I'll go first....... We "adopted" a little girl at school to be her Santa. It's sad when the only thing a kid wishes for are the essentials (clothes and shoes).

I hugged a little boy from a different classroom today that had just been beaten in the boys bathroom by his "stepmother".

Today I went to a child development center and gave them a brand new Santa suit I bought last year on clearance (bought two saved one so I can get romantic with Santa lol) and some brand new jewelry boxes for the gifts and a big bag of pillow stuffing for their craft projects.
Last week I put a bunch of clothes and shoes in the free box outside the White Bird clinic.
I mailed a pink artificial tree to a friend across the country because she wasn't going to be able to get a tree this year. It cost more to mail it than it cost me to buy it on clearance but it was totally worth it.

Did you report it to the proper authorities?

Mine just happened this afternoon. A small fire in the ALF where my 96 year old friend lives translated into an afternoon in another location in a chair and them not finding enough beds locally. She was slated for a 1 1/2 hour ride yet tonight to another facility in another town. She's here with us, comfortable, and ready for bed.

The school principal took care of that. It was not my student and I was not the one that witnessed it. I have an established relationship with the little boy, and it broke my heart.

Ya know, come to find out, she is not even listed on his emergency card(he lives with his real mom). Someone might be in trouble for letting her into the classroom. She has spent the last two day in there"observing his behavior".

I'm volunteering at our local domestic violence shelter on December 17th in honor of my mother, on the second anniversary of her death.

I gave my friend $50.00 so she could buy her dd something extra on Black Friday, she is a single mom and is living hand to mouth, never complains and is upbeat.I imagine if I were in her shoes I'd be complaining all the time. I admire her and our dd's go to school togather

Sent a $25.00 gift card to a craigslist poster in my area looking on the free board for food. My sister is skeptical, but I thought I'm sending a gift card. I feel in my heart I did the right thing. When he received it, he gratefully thanked me.

My Girl Scout troop is collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House of Ft. Lauderdale and we've accumulated 130 lbs. so far. We will be cashing them in at a local metal recycler and forwarding the check to Ronald McDonald House to help them with their operating expenses.

I also sent $50.00 to a scholarship fund set up for a dear friend of my sister.

Great post, byw.

Thanks, OP.

Wow, Judi, how nice of you to give from the heart like that.

This week wrapped up the three programs that are run at the Christmas holiday at my place of employment - senior gift drive, Toys for Tots, and mitten tree (along with used coat and boot drive). I sponsored two seniors both of whom wanted sheet sets and a variety of other items and donated numerous toys and hats, scarves, and mittens to the other programs.

It was also blood drive week and I normally like to give to that, but I'm waiting for DS1 to get home from college and we can go do it together. The holiday drive in town is giving out free lift tickets to donors. Sweet!

Keep up the good work everyone - this is a tough year with 10% unemployment so there's a lot of extra need out there!
