The recent post on cats made me want to show all of you cat lovers what we did for our cats. It came about after our male cat tried to attack a stray cat sitting on our block wall and tore his ACL's on both back knees and our female cat disappeared out of our backyard ~ all within a 3 week period. Our male cat had 2 surgeries on one knee and three on the other (very, very expensive!) and has since fully recovered. Our female cat was found 3 days after disappearing hiding in our neighbors garage ~ she was hungry/thirsty but otherwise OK. Previously she had never jumped over our fence before!

We didn't actually buy from this company. We were able to purchase the netting from a local supplier and DH used conduit pipes for the poles. We followed the measurements on the site, but in hindsite, it could have been made smaller and still worked fine. Yes, our backyard looks kind of like a prison, but at least our kitties are safe and can enjoy our large backyard! We also figured it helps keep out human burglars...

I wish I had enough money to do something like this. We live far out in the country and the only fences around here are barbed wire. It's impossible to keep the cats in the yard, as this whole countryland IS their playground. I think its wonderful you were able to fence in your yard in such a fashion. What a huge sense of relief it must be for you, knowing your kitties are safe.

I was expecting something like the squirrels with lightsabres, so this threw me for a bit of a loop. That said, I love the idea, and definitely need to see if we could do something like this.
