I don't care especially for those apples so you are wrong in liking them

The only correct apple to like is Granny Smith. If you think otherwise, I would NOT want you in my kitchen or cooking for me. You would go on the BAD cook
list.

And you are fat and lazy if you have time to sit around eating apples.

oh, we all know how which apple we like is so much like respecting children....lol. Eating an apple is physical.....treating children with respect is not. How would I expect you to understand that, though?

Well I definitely would like to be good not bad so I will immediately begin liking the right kind of apple. Heaven forbid I like the wrong kind!

My favorite is red delicious. My kids favorite is Gala or any of those that are red/yellow with a less sweet taste and a crispy apple. I use granny smiths exclusively though for apple crisp or pie - they are by far the best for that, imo.

Yes I like honeycrisp they have them at Costco.

All of you who love the Granny Smiths must be way sweeter than I am I can't bite into an apple that tart although they are definitely good in pies and tarts and crisps.

Honeycrisps are awesome, but I don't know why they are so darned expensive? I will only buy them when they put them on sale - I don't care if they have a gold core, no apple is worth $2.79/pound!

I bake with Granny Smith but the only kind I can eat are Honey Crisp. I love them sliced and dipped in Nutella! I get the organic ones of $2.49 a pound. Sometimes my dad finds a good deal and will buy a case and we'll all split it. I could never eat apples plain before but if they are Honey Crisp...I can. My least fave is red delicious

I like Golden Delicious. Also like Honeycrisp, but I have to peel those skins. I have a problem with diverticular disease, and the honeycrisp apple skins are thicker than Golden Delicious.

I have some Golden Delicious in the refrigerator, so this thread made me want one!

Are you allowed no carbs at all? Because complex carbs like apples and other fruits are good for you and there is enough fiber in the apple to make up for the sugar. As a matter of fact apples are one of the healthiest foods on the planet. I read that a lady goes around giving a lecture encouraging people to eat two apples a day. I tried to find it but I can't remember her name.
If you want an "excuse" to eat an apple just google "an apple a day" there are all kinds of good reasons to eat one. And I won't tell on you lol.

DH likes Granny Smith and every once in a while I'll have one also. DS likes any kind of apple out there, he's not particular. The Pink Lady is very good. I used to find Jonagold and enjoyed those very much. However, it seems that I don't find them very often. I also like the Gala. Thinking about it now, DS is like me, I like any apple that I've had as long as it's crisp and juicy.

I like Gala and Fiji for eating. I have no preferences for baking since I don't bake pies.

The red delicious apples around here have the flavor and texture of a piece of wood. Dry and tasteless, blah.

The Gala and Fiji have been on sale quite often lately, usually for 99 cents a pound. I can live with that.

Well.. I am allowed around 20 grams of carbs a day. I am insulin resistant and it's sooo easy for me to gain weight while eating carbs. I plan on indulging here and there with fruit when I want something "naughty". Right now I am mostly eating meat and fats and the weight is melting off. And thanks for not telling on me LOL!

Next time i "splurge" I want to try a honey crisp apple. If I can find one around here. I heard they are sooo good!

Honey Crisps are expensive because they are a very new hybrid apple. There are only a small number of growers authorized to grow the apple and its only been a few years since the orchards were old enough to produce apples on a commercial level. Their prices should go down some in the next 20 years - anybody remember when Gala and Fuji were the most expensive apples for that reason? There's a new apple coming out soon thats similiar to the Honey Crisp that will also be limited supply and expensive, but is supposed to be even better.

Usually I buy my apples from a local orchard that grows the old brands, mostly organically. Very yummy - but I have to say those Honey Crisps are worth the price, even the grocery store Honey Crisp apples are so good compared to most other kinds.

I often bake apples. It's so good! I cut them up and toss them with some brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg and bake them for about 45 minutes. Yummy!

Now Susie is really going to kill me for making her mouth water for sweet baked apples lol.

They are in stores. If yours doesn't carry them you can always ask the produce manager to order some! They always love when people ask for special items.

I'm allergic to apples, as well as pears and peaches. I love the taste of them all, but break out in hives(internally & externally).
Enjoy them for me everyone.

I love tart apples - to tell if and apple is sweet or tart - tart apples will have a smooth, round bottom. And sweet apples will have little knobs on the bottom.

My favorite is honey crisp. I'll pay up to $2.49 a pound for them, but typically won't go any higher. I like the thought of granny smith, but they give me a stomach ache every time I eat one raw.

Red Delicious can be great, but you really have to get lucky, in my opinion. More often than not, the texture is lacking.

I figure I'd pay $2.50 for a bakery muffin - why not a huge Honey Crisp Apple (less really when you consider its per pound) thats better for me and quite often TASTES better too.

As for Grapples - I've had them, I was left unimpressed. They weren't bad, they just weren't really worth all the hoopla to me.

My kids like Gala the best but I will usually buy any that are on sale and look like a Gala apple. So far they have not noticed. I really like Golden Delicious but if they are not on sale I don't buy them.

Great point Skye. I have known people who say fruit is too expensive then they pay over a dollar for a candy bar or $5 or $6 for a fast food lunch. I would rather pay a dollar for a piece of fruit than a candy bar or a greasy fast food burger.
