Just a note about the "names" thread

The thread was removed because of the personal attacks and vulgarity used.

This board remains, for the most part, unmoderated. If a Mod is reading a post and sees a violation, it will be corrected. But because there is no "assigned mod" sometimes a thread will get out of hand...as was the case in the "names" thread.

Please note these guidlines (Sticky at top of board) -
Quote:
Please remember to never personally attack another member. Friendly, even heated discussions are fine, but personal attacks will be removed as soon as they are spotted. Also this is no place for any type of hate speech. Any such posts will be removed and the member who made the post will have their account banned.
If you have any questions or concerns, pls PM any Mod.

Thanks!
Mary

Well done, Mary! That thread (and its predecessor) was a disgusting display of behavior.

I agree and was going to contact a moderator to try to get it removed. Thank you Mary.

Well, I wish I had had a chance to read the thread before it got removed: I'd like to know exactly which members had posted "vulgar" stuff.

Yeah, it is a little inconsistent to delete and not lock/close it as other threads and deletion prevents the posters from the shame and embarrassment of their participation, but c'est la vie!

Just scroll on down to the Jazzabella thread...I think that if you are going to close it, then why just not delete the whole thread?...That just doesn't make any sense to me... ~Lisa

Ditto. I missed the deleted thread but got the general idea from reading the closed Jazzabella thread.

I would have left it there so everybody could see how stupid some posters are - like the one with multiple user names who's incapable of understanding the libel laws. In addition to being dumb as dirt, she's proven herself to be mentally unstable and NEEDS to be in a locked facility, guarded by the guy with the keys who comes around with the pills.

I was one of the stupid people in there and will take my share of "stupid juice", but this post made me LOL....

Legal definition of libel

libel 1) n. to publish in print (including pictures), writing or broadcast through radio, television or film, an untruth about another which will do harm to that person or his/her reputation, by tending to bring the target into ridicule, hatred, scorn or contempt of others. Libel is the written or broadcast form of defamation, distinguished from slander which is oral defamation. It is a tort (civil wrong) making the person or entity (like a newspaper, magazine or political organization) open to a lawsuit for damages by the person who can prove the statement about him/her was a lie. Publication need only be to one person, but it must be a statement which claims to be fact, and is not clearly identified as an opinion. While it is sometimes said that the person making the libelous statement must have been intentional and malicious, actually it need only be obvious that the statement would do harm and is untrue. Proof of malice, however, does allow a party defamed to sue for "general damages" for damage to reputation, while an inadvertent libel limits the damages to actual harm (such as loss of business) called "special damages." "Libel per se" involves statements so vicious that malice is assumed and does not require a proof of intent to get an award of general damages. Libel against the reputation of a person who has died will allow surviving members of the family to bring an action for damages. Most states provide for a party defamed by a periodical to demand a published retraction. If the correction is made, then there is no right to file a lawsuit. Governmental bodies are supposedly immune for actions for libel on the basis that there could be no intent by a non-personal entity, and further, public records are exempt from claims of libel. However, there is at least one known case in which there was a financial settlement as well as a published correction when a state government newsletter incorrectly stated that a dentist had been disciplined for illegal conduct. The rules covering libel against a "public figure" (particularly a political or governmental person) are special, based on U. S. Supreme Court decisions. The key is that to uphold the right to express opinions or fair comment on public figures, the libel must be malicious to constitute grounds for a lawsuit for damages. Minor errors in reporting are not libel, such as saying Mrs. Jones was 55 when she was only 48, or getting an address or title incorrect. 2) v. to broadcast or publish a written defamatory statement.

I am the LAST person in the world who would hide behind an anonymous name. I am not always right however I am not ashamed of my opinions or beliefs.

You need to either PROVE your allegations or stop making them.

I am contacting the administrator of the board to put a stop to your LYING and LIBELOUS allegations.

I don't care that you don't like me because of my opinions or beliefs but once you start making up lies about me I care.

I posted at the end after it had become a big steaming pile of poo, and heaped a little more poo on top. More out of boredom and an annoyance that I had wasted several minutes of my life reading though all that crap. I swear by the end of those two threads I could feel I.Q. points hemorrhaging from my brain.

I'm curious as to what would be the advantage to having more than one username on a coupon board? Seems pointless and kind of a silly allegation. If you're so sure that she does, tell us what her alter-ego is.

Anna, really, I just think she's trying to bait you and get under your skin. It's working really well.

The reason some people have another name, is so that they can say what they feel and not have people know they said it. I, of course don't care what people think. I am who I am and I say what I think. I would not be shocked at all to learn that Anna has another name here.....either way, to threaten to sue someone for saying that you have more than one name on an internet board is beyond crazy!

Unless annadrose is the name that she uses to post her opinion or controversial stuff and that her other alter is meek and mild that doesn't make sense. I doubt anna needs a crazier alter.

Yeah, that's like thinking I have an alt ID---doesn't make much sense.

Honestly, I think that people put way too much stake, time and effort in an internet board..
And as far as the libel threat... Give me a break anna... You can not honestly be serious....

You can sometimes tell when a name is likely an alter. They usually only make one kind of post.

People like MK, gg, anna, or even me do it all under one name. From the crazy or mean, to nice or informative and even the mundane. Sometimes they add value to thread and sometimes they just stir the pot.

On the other hand posters like opal only pop into a thread to stir it up. She rarely ever makes any other kind of post. Maybe that's all she has to contribute or she's the alter of one of our nicer poster's. But I find it a bit amusing that she's the one accusing others.

It's untrue that I 'pop into' a thread just to stir things up (as my previous posts prove, if you had bothered to check). I was merely responding to Annadrose's UNPROVOKED, out of the blue attack on me in a thread in which I didn't even participate. She raved in another thread (she does that frequently) and when I questioned her post, sent me a vulgar and truly laughable message threatening to sue me. If you want to talk about stirring things up, look to Annadrose who continues to stir the pot with several different posters. Now, she's going at it with Groovygirl, yet still finds time to mention a previous problem with a poster in the middle of her argument with someone else! You would think she would be embarrassed at her loss of control and white trash antics but no, she just moves on to the next argument.

And she wonders why people think she's nuts.

I find it hard to believe you treat your students with respect when you are so disrespectful of anyone who disagrees with you. And for the record since I have not addressed it that person accused me of having another screen name on this board. That is libel.

Just to enlighten you "teacher" this is the definition of libel

# a false and malicious publication printed for the purpose of defaming a living person
# print slanderous statements against; "The newspaper was accused of libeling him"

When that creature who goes around insulting people and talking $h!t printed on this site that I have another screen name she knew it was false as I don't and never did. The only reason she did it was to cast aspersions on me. Just because I became upset about someone making up lies about me and overreacted a little doesn't mean I am mentally unstable. And the fact that the creature printed if for everyone to see instead of dealing directly with me shows who the mentally unstable one is.
Make up a lie, print it for the simple reason of calling someone who is honest and speaks her mind a liar. I am not ashamed of my opinions, beliefs, etc. I have NO reason to make up an alter ego to post things on this board.

You on the other hand are rude and disrespectful. And possibly mentally unstable as you've indicated you have several children by different fathers and don't feel there is anything unusual about that. Ask you children's therapists in a few years if it affected them while they were growing up.
PS - I cannot be successfully sued for libel for mentioning your white trash antics. LOL.

For the record - annadrose does not have any other logon on the MyCoupons site. Her IP address was checked against all other IP addresses from MyCoupons members.
