DD has her heart set on a camo prom dress. She really likes to hunt and that is why she wants that type of dress. We have been searching for "the dream dress" but she can't find one she likes. I think we will have to make it and I did find a site that sells camo material for wedding and prom dresses.
Does any one have any clue how to go about this?

I don't have a clue on how to go about it, but I applaud your daughter's individuality! I think it sounds pretty cool...no one will have the same dress, that's for sure! what about a tutu? Someone used to advertise them locally, did a search and this site came up (she's relocated so it's no longer local to me).

I don't know if tutus are even close to what can be worn to a prom these days, but with some creativity and a flair for independence, I think it could be pulled off successfully.

Good for her. I like a girl who knows what she wants and goes after it! You might also see if there is a seamstress in your area that can make it. (It might be pricier though, especially since the cost of fabric has gotten so high.) It's a good thing you started so early in the year. Good luck, I hope you can find something that will make her happy.

I couldn't agree more!!! If I showed the dress pics to my 2 girls, I am positive at least one of them would definately want to wear one....to the prom or their own wedding!!! And I know dh would be on board for that as he is a big time hunter AND a lot of my house is done in camo.

Hubby has camo undies that he sleeps in during hunting season.. We can hunt on our property and many nights he has gotten deer simply by opening the window and shooting. He wears the camo undies so he can still be "hiding" according to him!!

Wouldn't it be cool if the date wore "hunter/blaze" orange???

Maybe a camo tux w/ either a blaze orange cumberbund or vest.
And of course the corsage would need to be orange w/ camo ribbon accents.

OH! and you need to see if you can find a camo limo, or someone's camo 4x4 for transportation.

I'm not making fun---I think it's an awesome idea, and I like to work w/ themes!

The dress has gotten many compliments when I had her try it on for some friends. One of them told her sister, who has now ordered her wedding gown from there along with the bridesmaids and flower girl dresses! You folks were awesome, thanks again

Way to funny!! She can put her hunting bibs on under the dress and you can not tell the difference between the two. Guess she will just "blend in" with the trees!! Which is o.k. she needs to get out of high school first before we tackle the husband thing!! When she is ready, I can always slap a burnt orange vest over the dress or put an orange hat on her head!!! (he he)
