Dress Code at Work

I am curious at to what other peoples' dress codes are. At my work you can wear anything you want, including a bathing suit, as long as you have no client appts that day. And you can bring your dog. Just wondering about other works.

Business casual unless we expect congressional visitors. Never anything less than dress shoes, dress shirt and ties for the men, dresses-skirts-dress pants and nice top for the women. I keep a suit, dress shoes and hose in my office at all times to change into "just in case." No open toes. No jean material. Nothing that would cause the organization embarrassment if "caught on tape." Occasionally, when the weather is horribly snowy and dangerous, we get an email that says jeans and boots are okay for the day. But, I generally just leave those in the car in the event I have snow problems from Nov-March. Some people arrive in jeans and sweatshirts, but I dress for work as usual because my role is more likely to be scrutinized.

I also telework two days a week = jammies

LUCKY!!!!! I would get a dog just so I could bring it to work

My dress code is a uniform polo shirt and any pants besides stretch or work out pants. We can wear most shoes as long as they do not have open holes of any kind, like crocs or sandals. I have been wearing my Uggs to work since Christmas. They always make me shock things though so my new name is Shocky! LOL

Working as a sub, we have to wear casual dressy. No jeans (we do have an occasional jean day as a fundraiser for breast cancer). I really wish that we could wear jeans. I remember years ago when I first started subbing I had a dress and heels on and I was working in the Special Ed room. We just happen to be taking the kids on a field trip, to an apple orchard on a very cold, wet fall day. I looked like a fool walking thru the orchard in my heels and dress! After that day, I learned to always ask what teacher I would be subbing for. When I sub for one of the gym teachers, I usually make sure to dress in something comfy! My daughter is very lucky, she can wear whatever she wants to work, she is a Surgical Tech and they have to change into scrubs once at work (hospital provides the scrubs). She usually wears sweats to work!

I work in high tech in a facility that is both manufacturing and R&D. We have a very, very relaxed dress code. I suppose you could wear a bathing suit or sweats, but no one does. Of course, I don't know anyone that wears a bathing suit to go shopping either. I take that back, I've seen some of the manufacturing people wear some sweats and just-rolled-out-of-bed stuff - but no bathing suits. They wear a "bunny suit" when in the factory.

Mostly, it's jeans and t-shirts - shorts in the summer. Most of the managers typically dress a step up from that - a shirt with a collar, no sneakers, etc. Dress for the position that you aspire to....

You know one person who wears a bathing suit to the grocery store. Of course my bathing suit is just a skirt and halter top made out of bathing suit material. I can't wait for summer! lol

Our dress code is very relaxed, we can wear jeans or sweats unless we have to go to court, then we must be dressed appropriately.

I'm a dog groomer so I wear nylon sweat pants...they easily repel water and dog hair brushes off easily. I'm on my feet alot so I wear comfortable sneakers. I need to get a pair of Crocs probably, even though I don't like them. Sometimes I wear a dog grooming apron. ~Lisa

I work at home, so typically jeans and a casual shirt (if DH is in town) or sweats and a t-shirt if I am not going anywhere. Sometimes I even stay in my pjs all day.

Western cut 5 pocket jeans in dark blue or black, black shoes or black/brown cowboy boots, Western shirts. For the shirts I prefer the vintage look, think Riders in the Sky. They are a pain to iron but look sharp.

Depends on the area we work in. A physicial therapist is going to wear comfortable clothing, where as someone in Marketing will be more dressy.

In our Admin area, we wear casual/nice - dress pants, nice tops, skirts or dresses if we wanted to. We can wear open shoes - one of the girls here wears such pretty, dressy, high-heeled shoes in the spring and summer. Friday is very casual - t shirts, sweat shirts, jeans - but nice looking, not all ratty.

Crocs have normal looking shoes too. They are very comfy.

I am self employed so it's jeans and a Tshirt daily (usually with the biz logo). Before I was self employed, I worked at a high tech computer company. If I didn't have to meet with a client, I could wear anything casual (shorts, jeans, etc). I would never wear a tank top to work (I don't think it's appropriate except under a blazer or a short skirt of short shorts but there are those that did

I don't get the no open toe thing unless you work somewhere where something can fall on your foot but then closed toe shoes wouldn't protect them any better.

Anybody?

I am temping in a call center where it is a very casual environment. Basically, they say no flip flops or tank tops----keep in mind we are in Minnesota in Jan!!! So, most people wear great big hoodies and sloppy jeans. I wear what I already own....sweaters and nicer jeans. My last job was biz/casual.....dress pants, nice shoes and a sweater/blouse/jacket. I like the change, but am not going to revamp my whole closet for a temp job!!!!

As far as workplace dress codes goes, I have it made in the shade... I work in a fabulous costume shop. No matter what I may wear to work on any given day, it's sure to change as soon as I find a costume I want to wear, and the boss lady is totally onboard with that.Every day is Fair day for me at work 8^D

As a preschool teacher, we can wear just about anything...not that you'd want to. Comfy comes first, and usually I wear jeans and a t-shirt. There are a few days during the year that we dress up, like parents tea day and friendship feast. During summer school we do wear shorts and flip flops

We are a professional office, and we dress as such.
While we don't wear heels and hose every day, we do wear dress pants and nice shoes or pantsuits, or dresses. We have casual Fridays, and sometimes a casual day during the week.
We don't often have "visitors", ocassionally we will have a vendor stop by for a visit, or one of our attorneys. I guess we could wear whatever we wanted, but that just would not fit with our company image or look professional.
I *LIKE* to dress professionally...just one of my many quirks.

I do love to dress up wearing dresses and especially skirts but I literally hate hate pantyhose or stockings and I rarely wear pants . While I know it sounds crazy I love the cold weather truly I do , I also love love to wear just a dress or a skirt and sandels. Oh well cannot have both. On a personal note a bathing suit what is that I have not worn one in years lol no kidding my stomach is too big for that and I rather just wear shorts and a tank top. Peace. Catherine

Well since I'm a SAHM, I wear whatever is clean. My last job was in a peds office, so scrubs everyday. I miss them, they were so comfy. At the retirement home (worked in the kitchen) we wore white pants with white shirt (polo like with their logo on it). Really dumb to give kitchen workers white to wear. We always went home covered in stains.

IAt one time I worked in the office of an engineering firm that had a testing facility attached and we were not allowed to wear open toed shoes encase we had to go into the test area. No, there is no more reall safety in closed toe shoes, I am sure it was just an insurance thing.

That makes sense in a nonsensical insurance company way.

In work in the curriculum office at a school district. We are expected to wear business casual. No jeans. Even in the summer, we have a dress code, no shorts, tank tops, and flip flops.

I work Retail and in our company we can't wear open toed shoes because we have to unload shipment, haul totes around when we are processing shipment, carry hardware around when we're working in our departments, etc, so the rule is to keep us from breaking a toe if we drop something heavy on our foot.

My sister works at Macys and they can't wear open toed shoes because, in their store anyway, the store manager thinks toes are ugly

At my store we can wear pretty much anything just no belly shirts, skirts and shorts must be knee length...... most of the people I work with wear jeans and t-shirts - I wear work skirts (like for suits) and t-shirts beacuse I don't wear pants (I don't even own any)

At Macys they have a super strict dress code - no sleeveless tops, if you wear a skirt or dress you have to wear hosiery, heck the girls who work at some of the make-up counters are told how they must wear their hair and what earrings they can wear. I'm so glad to work in a layed-back store - I'd sweat to death in the summer if I couldn't wear sleeveless tops, that mall gets warm - even in the summer!

I sure feel lucky. I don't think I would work somewhere that tried to tell me how to do my hair. That sucks and what audacity to not let people wear open toe shoes because he doesn't like toes. Sounds like a real control freak.

Actually, it's a *she* who doesn't like toes And, yeah, I'd say she's a control freak - she could just not look down at people's feet.
