What type of vehicle do you drive?

My lease for my Pontiac G6 is up in April, so therefore, I'm searching for another car. I am not sure if I want to lease again or not. I have been looking at cars online but am unsure as to what I want. I think maybe I would like an SUV or Crossover. I like the look of the Chevy Equinox or Pontiac Edge/Torrent.

Guess my question is: What type of vehicle do you drive? Have you had any major problems? Do you like it or hate it and why? Do you get good gas mileage?

Thank you for your responses. I know NOTHING about cars and don't have anyone to help me understand them!

I have a 2008 saturn outlook. I love it. I haven't had any concerns with it, but it's only a year old. The gas mileage is typical. I get about 20city/25-30 highway. Unfortunately they are not being made anymore.

2007 Ford Escape. I love it! I get 25 mpg in town and it's small enough to park but big enough for me to feel safe and to carry lots of groceries or camping stuff or us and our dog and the two dogs we sometimes watch.
I haven't had any problems and it's a pleasure to drive.

2003 trailblazer. Hate it. Too big, I feel like I'm driving a bus. Hard to back up.

I know it's not an SUV or a cross over, but I have a Toyota Camry Hybrid and I LOVE it. Actually, my DH & I each have one. I have had it for three years and have had absolutely no problems with it and I average about 35 mpg. It'll carry 5 people easily, but there's not a lot of cargo space.

You should just buy the biggest vehicle you can afford to insure the safety of your family. I recommend a Hummer if all possible.

'03 Hyundai Elantra. Cheap, good gas mileage, no real problems with it. Probably not what you are looking for though.

It doesn't have to be an SUV. I just like the look of them. Thanks for all your comments.

BMW 328xi (me), Saab 93 (DH) and Saab 95 (for the kids). We drive standard transmissions and they're hard to find in non-imports. Americans like to be able to eat their fast food while driving.

Mileage on both is about 22-23 in the city; 30ish on the highway.

She looks like this - pretty huh?:

My personal car is a Honda Accord - my third. I've had other makes/models however the Accord is just the best. I have never had a service issue, I have only maintained all three. My company car is a Toyota Camry and it compares well.

2005 Subaru Forester. Love it. It is great in the snow/rain and is just the right size for me, very comfortable to drive and lots of room to cart stuff. 23mpg around town, 28 highway. I only have 25000 miles on it but it has never(knock wood) given me any problem. If you live in a climate that gets snow, I think a Subaru is the way to go.

2004 Chevy Cavalier. I LOVE the Cavalier model, I do not know what I'm going to do when it comes time to replace this one.

In my car-owning history is this: 1980 something Cavalier, then a 1995 Chevy S-10 pickup, then the current car in 2005.

Next time I buy, I think I might go against everything I was ever taught and buy a Ford. I really like the idea that they are re-inventing themselves and haven't taken any bailout money from the gov't.

I have a 2007 328i in the same color, but mine is much dirtier...LOL I don't have the $ to go to the carwash. My lease is up in June and I am in the same boat. This car is too expensive for me to try to afford it. I am paying off my school loans so I want a smaller cute car. I was thinking about a VW, but haven't decided yet.

Okay Catherine my son drives a Ford Focus he likes it because it gets really good gas mileage and the maintenance is inexpensive and he's had minimal problems with it.

I drive a Nissan Armada, and I love everything about it, but the third row seating, it's more like a bench seat, then a "real" seat. It's been a terrific vehicle. We are limited to bigger vehicle since we need one that seats at least 8. It actually gets better gas mileage then you would expect for a vehicle of it's size.

Now DH has two vehicles....his baby, 67 mustang totally rebuilt, and a work car, a mercury cougar coupe, that in a year and half will become oldest DD's and he'll take me Armada, and then it's time for a new "family" vehicle.

I thought it was meant as a compliment. Your right, lucky kids. I refuse to buy cars for my kids. They have to buy their own with money they earn from working part time. I will however help them with insurance. That's just how my family does things. Kids seem to appreciate things alot more when they had to work and save for it.

For my kids (only the oldest drives so far), we buy the car, they pay the insurance - just the opposite!

My oldest had a '96 Passat, but now has my old '00 Saab 95 (with > 100k miles on it). They would salivate over those '08 and '09 vehicles that Catherine's children have!!

My daughter just bought a 2005 Chevy Equinox that she bought with money saved from her summer jobs and trading in her 2001 Chrysler Sebring. It's a bluish purple color and she loves it. I pay the insurance during the school year so she can keep up her good grades in college (she has a full academic scholarship - yeah!)
I can't even imagine how much insurance would cost for teens on new cars.

Thanks again Cjs216 as mentioned we also purchased the cars , however they the 2 oldest pay their own insurance and gas and with Caitlin she is the youngest will be 18 in May she only pays so far for her gas we pay her insurance. But once she earns enough for insurance she also will pay her own. I think back we all drived my dads totally Kelly green ford granada sp. car when we were younger times have changed for sure. On another personal note these cars were given and can be taken away School and grades come first no other way . Peace. Catherine

I drive a 2003 Kia Sedona minivan. I loved it for five years. As SOON as it was paid off, things started going wrong. Major things, within three weeks. I HATE this vehicle and will never, ever, ever buy another Kia again. It's a five year car. I'd like to buy a small used car this year and use my Kia as a work van. If it lasts that much longer

I was reading it thinking the exact same thing, those payments!!?

I have had the same car for 12 years ( paid off for 10), a Mitsubishi Galant and I am dreading the day I will have to bring it to the junk yard. My husband has a car he drives just to work, but we pay cash ( just cheap $1000- $1500 Saturns) and they usually last a few years then we junk them when they aren't worth fixing.

We also have a GMC Denali that's paid in full, it's what we take when we go out as a family. One of the safest cars on the road and every luxury we need as well as being a pick up.

Cars are a waste of money, most end up in a junk yard eventually. We spend next to nothing on cars every year and we get around just fine. And when our kids get cars they'll probably both drive big old Chevy /GMC pick ups, I want a little meat between them and anything they could potentially hit.

I drive an '09 Dodge Journey. I love it. I get anywhere from 22.0 - 25.0+ mpg....and that's driving to and from work. 27.0+ on the highway.

He put a few hundred dollars worth of pinstriping on it and he literally gets compliments on it every single time he drives it. I get a kick out of the fact that he gets compliments on it from the full gamut of ages: little kids right through 85-year old women

DD got him a vanity plate for father's day that says "1SWT WGN".

DH takes it off the road for the winter so it still looks brand new and only has 20,000 miles on it.

I have a '92 Mercedes, owned it since 2003 and love it! Plan on buying another (used, probably 2002-ish) Mercedes in a year or two to replace it and hopefully give it to my sister in law. 295000 miles on it and still runs great! We saw a Nissan Armada at a dealership a few years ago and I wouldn't mind one of those either

We are partial to Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans. All are EXCELLENT cars and will last you FOREVER if you keep the oil changed.

I had to borrow a friend's car, a Hyundai. It was Ok, but, it was a 2002 I think??? and every time I turned on the blinker, the lights went out. Very scary. LOL.

Are you looking for something to buy and keep for a LONNNNNGGG time, or something you will trade in in a few years???

And my sister's mechanic that owns a really good shop down around Houston told her to never run her car below 1/4 a tank of gas and she'll get 500,000 miles out of her old 1990 honda civic! HAHA! I think it already has 250,000 and is going strong! I'm thinking about getting an older model Honda CRV just for something smaller to drive....IF I can find a good one that's not all worn out and stinking from cigs!

2008 ford fusion. I love it. After I was rear-ended I was amazed at the amount of $$ damage but you wouldn't know there was ever an accident. I refuse to rid myself of my baby.

Well I had a 99 Taurus and ended up putting a trany into it, only for it to need another $1500 worth of repairs a few months later. I HATED IT! I will NEVER buy another one EVER! I like the idea of leasing because you never have to worry about repairs and can get a new vehicle in 2-3 years, but I hate that nothing is ever mine. Right now with the economy, I'd like something to buy. Then maybe I'd trade it in in a few years when the econonmy is better and my student loans are less.

I drive a Chevrolet Colorado Truck, with a full sized cab, I love it. Also drive a 1995 Ford van which I also love. We have 2 other vehicles which I rarely drive.
