Wink White on white anyone else like this choice for my small powder room

Here is the story I have a small powder room when you first enter into my house I have a huge center all colonial its 100 percent decorated into what I call Old french country shabby chic. Long story short it was painted and decorated with my favorite shade of blue auqa.turquoise. So lately my dh decided enough of the color lets change things around. He said pick out a color well I have been collecting Country Living for almost as long as I have been married and there have been alot of stories and pictures on rooms decorated in white on white with several shades of antique white it looks so clean and so nice. However I love color except for Gold, Red and Black only want Red for Christmas lol. So what do you ladies think, again its not a huge space . I am worried I will not be satisfied with just all shades of white but again some of those pictures from the magazine looks good. So I am open to your comments and help deeply appreciated. Peace. Catherine

Send me a link to the pics and I will be able to better give my opinion. My first thought reading this is that all whites wouldn't be my choice but I can't really visualize it without seeing exactly what you mean.

What is great about all white, and I assume the toilet, sink , tile and floor are all pure white, is that all you need is one bright color splash....in the towels or whatever and the room can look different . I don't like various shades of white...that looks like you tried to match and did a poor job of it. I love pure bright clear white

Our main bathroom is all white except the tub enclosure which is beige. I find it very boring. We will be redoing it this year. I'm looking at light oak or mahagony wood cabinets and very pale blue walls with white trim. I want mahagony cabinets & hubby wants oak. We'll see who wins (lol).

We are redoing our master bath as we speak! The tile is country blue marble on the bottom and lighter whitish blue on top. It is looking very nice. We redid the bath in our old house in white on white and I loved it. It was bright white on bright white with different textures. I think it looked very rich and I was able to change the whole feel of the room by changing towels and rugs. When we redo our 2nd bath in this house it will be white/white. Go for it!

Yes the bowl and sink are plain white but I am excited because from so many ideas from the country living magazine collection I have found so many ideas to make white and other shades of white like butter or cream and perhaps a very very light shade of beige. I just got back from the Goodwill store and found so many items. When the room is done I will post pictures and Anna if I can get my dd Caitlin to post some pictures from the magazine I will. Never thought I would like this but again its very popular in the country living magazines. ALso on the walls are very pale white with very pale shades of beige they only go up 4 feet and they are not shiny tiles because I hate anything modern they have a rustic sandstone touch, same goes for the floor however the floor is a light grey sandstone rough tiles. Keep my fingers crossed this works afterall I love my blues and purples and yellows and greens. Peace. Catherine

Decorating with White - Country Living

Country Home Decorating With All White | Home Decoration Collection

I googled "white on white conuntry decorating" and got these (and others). You can get a pretty good idea from this. I think white-on-white decorating is an easy way to go. You can have it be casual or classy, depending on what you use to accent the room with. Like another posted said, you can change it all by using a splash of color. In the powder room that can be your hand towels, or even a colorful frame for a picture.

Thanks AiA. Those rooms look very nice however it's not my taste. I like more color. But now that I look at it and read the replies I think a white bathroom would look nice especially with the ideas of a bright rug and towels and shower curtain. I could do that in the bathroom but too much white in other rooms is too white for me. And it would be constantly dirty looking with the cat and dog and husband and dust that comes in here.

I guess it looks okay. I am not a fan of all white, bright colors, or the country look. I like modern and earthy colors. Browns, rusts, earthy greens, etc. My sister has her house all white and I find it cold and industrial looking. If you like it, though, that is what counts.

I agree...its all in what you like. I have no taste when it comes to decorating. I wish I had more of an eye for colors, and design. I just go for what works for me, and is easy on the eye. Heck...most of my stuff comes from Yard Sales.

Military housing dictated white for many years. Ok, it might have been a tad off white, but it was white. You could not paint and if you dared, it had to be repainted to specs before housing would release you.

I decided I wouldn't have a white room in my own home. I also decided to paint the ceilings the same as the wall color. I like the cohesiveness of the walls and ceiling being the same without that line of change.

If you like white, great. If you've lived white, you enjoy having color options.

Aia thanks for posting the links to what I was referring to . Again I think it will come out really nice since it will not be all white but different shades of white along with colors like butter and creme and very light beige. The pictures I have seen of a room decorated like this in the country living magazines are nice and also you have to remember alot of the decorative pieces are old and chipped and worn thats the old french cottage country shabby chic look I love love love to death. Again I do not like Red Gold or Black too modern and I literally cringe at modern decorations again not my taste at all. I truly am the blue lady I love all shades of blue but mostly pastels shades like aqua and robins egg blue and I love all shades of yellow and light pinks and purples and greens I also truly love all floral and antique old old worn rustic pieces. Thanks again for the link. Peace. Catherine

I don't really like black furniture and black stuff in my home either. It looks nice but it's just not for me.

my grandmothers always had country, frilly, pastels, etc. and I guess it makes me feel old....lol. My house is just modern enough to not be old and all warm earth tones. Like I said before, though......it only matters that YOU like it. A lot of people coming in won't, but they don't have to live with it.

The bathroom is done it came out so pretty when I get a chance I will ask my dd Caitlin to take some pictures. And to groovygirl your so right you home about the decoration or taste of your home to be it should be a reflection of yourself and your personality what ever makes you happy , whatever design or taste or colors. Life is way too short so enjoy to all our beautiful homes and tastes of design that is what makes the world go around. Hey anyone from the 70's remember wood paneling on the walls my parents paneled everything and different shades, we also had a gold couch with plastic on it yuck yuck lol. Peace. Catherine
