Question Living in Texas

We are considering moving to Fort Worth, Texas. Anyone out there can give some input and feedback. Is it a good place?
I hear the best schools in US are there is Texas. Is it also too hot? I am worried. Anyone?

I am a native Texan and I love it. Fort Worth is about an hour from me. It has a great blend of old and new, and a much more "western" feel than Dallas. There is always something great to do in FW. However, Texas does not have the "best schools". We have some great schools and some not so great schools, like anywhere else. It usually depends on area, economics, parental involvement, etc. It's not hard to find out which schools are good or not and which areas to live in to go with them, though.

Weather-wise, yes, you have to be prepared for the heat. Right now it's about 70, which is a blessing, but come July and August we'll have many days of 100+ heat.

Texas is also very affordable to live in. Housing prices (especially right now) are great, the cost of living is nice and we pay no state income tax. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have as well, fire away. And good luck, whatever you decide.

I'd love, love, love to live in the FW area, been there several times to visit friends. Don't know about schools, but TX has terrific homeschooling laws. It's hot down there during summer, but everyplace has AC. The only weather thing i didn't like there was the hail storms that crop up from time to time. Soooooo much to do there no matter what you're interested in. Real estate prices are great whether you want new construction or *pre-owned*. Pack me in your suitcase if you move there ;-)
