Because if you knew ahead of time the price of their ice cream and seen it cheaper at Maggie's down the road, you wouldn't go in their store to get the ice cream, ice cream cones, sprinkles and whip cream. The reason they( stores ) have loss leaders on the front pages is so you will shop the bargains and pick up the 'regular" priced items while you are in the store. It's all a marketing trick every store does it . Thus why you only see the "sale" items and not both. |

One thing would be that they do not have the same prices at all the stores. Case in point, there are two Super Wal Marts here withing 30 miles of each other, and their prices are diffferent on several identical items.

Not only are the prices different at each Wal-mart with in a mile or so from each other, they also clearance at different times on same items and they will not price match their own stores. I have always found that very odd. seems if they clearance say after summer items at 1 store then is it not also true summer is over at the next store 5 miles down the road ?.It's so weird to see bathing suits on clearance here and if I go to the Wal mart 8 miles down the road they are still full price.

I think she means the grocery stores are self-serving, rather than serving their customers (the way we WANT to be served, anyway). We have Lowes Foods here...and a neat little thing called Lowes Foods to GO. You can pick out what you want and for a $5 charge, they'll pack up your groceries and bring them to your car. Or, for a $25 charge, they'll bring them to your house. The $5 charge was a great deal for me last January after I was recovering from surgery and was on crutches for nine weeks. I've never done the $25 charge, but since I live in a tourist area, I can see where they'd make a lot of money in the summertime doing this. My point, since I seem to be rambling this morning, is you can see all the prices of Lowes. |
