I know a few of the students at the High School I work at have them, I haven't heard many positive things from them. But, my daughter is thinking about getting them for her bottom teeth, her mother in law use to work for a dentist, and she highly recommended them to her.

My adult brother did this, about two years ago. I happened to ask him in December when he was visiting how it went ......he still wears it many nights. He says that if he doesn't, he can tell. He didn't really say, but I took it that he feels he will need to wear it periodically to keep his teeth where they are. I will say his teeth look great, but it seems he is now having to keep wearing it periodically so he doesn't have a regression. dl |

I have metal braces. I had wanted invisaline. I researched as much as I could and decided to go with the metal braces because it was cheaper, faster, and more accurate. Up until right before I got my braces I still had some of my baby teeth. One of my canines had come in behind a baby tooth. I found that the invisaline would probably not be the best route for getting it into place. I may go with invisaline for my youngest ds, it looks like the only real problem he'll have is spacing of his teeth and invisaline should work quite well for that.

Thanks for all of the replies so far. DS who is 18 had phase one of metal braces back in middle school. His teeth turned out pretty good and he never wanted to go to phase 2. Now he's in college and wants to try to Invisalign to straighten up a few teeth that bother him. He's already had a consultation with the orthodontist and was fitted for them. We're just waiting for them to come in. They sound like a pain to me because you have to take them out everytime you eat. I have also heard that the results from the metal ones are better. The orthodontist said that after treatment if he doesn't like the result, he can get the metal ones at no cost. DD just got her metal braces off last year. Her teeth look great. She didn't go through the phase thing. It was all in one shot. We'll see...I hope it turns out good. ~Lisa |

I had the metal and clear ones (clear on top only) and they worked nicely. I slacked after the wedding and stopped wearing the retainer. Now my teeth are crooked. I don't really feel like jamming them in again. It feels like someone punched me in the face for a week. UGH I don't know what I should do either. I know it will be cheaper to try and get the retainers back in (they don't even fit) but the pain is so bad and the retainers hurt bad when I sleep because of the metal. MAybe I should try it!
