I don't know how often your shelter updates it's website---ours is not daily. You might try calling the non-emergency police dispatch. If they have an ACO (Animal Control Officer), they may have some idea if the ACO has picked up kitty and taken it to the pound.

Thanks for your replies. I hope she wakes him up too!! I think he would be relieved if she came back because he is more worried about me than her. I know it was her choice to leave, but I don't think this is what she meant when she left! I have had her for 9 years now. The Orange County pound is very large and they might have updated the site today. Thanks for the ideas!

Boy that brings back memories! Our (now deceased) cat did the same thing. She escaped out the door one night when I was letting the dog out. We even searched with flashlights and could not find her anywhere. I tried taking cans of tuna and opening them outside in hopes that she would hear it, but nothing worked.I was heart sick! At the time we did not have any children and we had gotten her the week we came back from our honeymoon. Suddenly 3 days later she was at my door. We think she was hiding under our neighbors jacuzzi. She was cold and wet and hungry, but she never ran away again. We had her for 13 years!! So there is hope!! I will keep my fingers crossed!!

Thank you everyone!! She came home around 12:30AM! We left the garage open a crack and she opened the screen to let herself in! I heard the bag of cat food rustling and I was wondering why my hubby was feeding my other kitty Rosco in the middle of the night. I looked over and he was sleeping on the other couch. I thought then that maybe a racoon had come in or another cat. It was her!! She was so hungry she was trying to get into the food! She scarfed down some food that my hubby got her after I started jumping up and down yelling that she was home! He cleaned her up with a wet rag and then we went to bed. Boy was it a relief to have her home! She has been around us all day and is so relieved to be home!! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

Excellent news! Our newest family addition is snuggled up right behind me in my chair. I can't imagine what we would do if she disappeared (this from the person who was trying to find her a new home.... lol) So glad your kitty made it home!!!!

Great news!!!! I once had a cat return home after being gone for a week! I looked up at the door and there he was. He was a mess....skinny as a rail. We think he may have been locked in a local cow barn. Boy did he stink! I remember grabbing him and hugging him....despite the smell. We also had a close call with another cat. My father in law called one morning to tell us that he had buried one of our cats that had been hit by a car. I cried all day. Later that night, I went down in our basement to get something....and there was our cat, curled up in a chair sleeping. I grabbed him, squeezed him and cried like a baby. He looked up at me like I was insane! To this day, we don't know whos cat my father in law buried. We did try to find out, but had no luck.

Maybe she's happy and hungry 'cause she got a little action, and might be pregnant.

Congrats!! My cat, Ed(now departed) got out one time and I hunted and hunted for him for hours. Finally, I heard a meowing near the front door. I looked under the steps and in the bushes and finally looked up to see Ed peering over the edge of the roof at me!!! I lived/worked on a dairy farm at the time and my boss wasn't a big fan of animals living in the house so he was less than amused when I had to ask him to borrow a ladder so I could getup on the roof and get Ed down(I lived in a house the boss had on the property). Ed was FILTHY and covered in pine pitch-he had climbed up a pine tree next to the house and walked out a branch and onto the roof. Just one of the many adventures of "Special Ed". How he lived to be 15 without doing himself in is still beyond me.

Ed----what a cute name!! If my hubbys friend wasn't named Ed I would pick that as my next pet's name! My husband wants an English bulldog and he wants to name him Chuck

Chuck is a great name for a bulldog! Ed got his name from the stupid hyena in "The Lion King". Bless his heart, he was just about that dumb.
