I saw it profiled in a magazine then looked online and it has great reviews. Nobody I know IRL has tried it but it's on sale right now. So I'd thought I'd order one. It's so popular it's out of stock but they say it usually ships in 10 days. It's listed at $39.95 or $49.95 in a lot of places but is on sale for $19.99 with s&h comes to $26.94.

My Farouk lasted about five years and I use it every day. It's not long for this world.

Here's more reviews. Looks like a good product. I should use a straightener, although I don't. I have a cheap one for when I decide I want to attempt to straighten my hair (it is straight, but frizzy).

I had a Remington similar to the model that you're looking at. It caught my hair and pulled it out.

Yes this is the one. I think I paid $80 at folica.com it was on sale. Back then it was about $120. It works well and lasted me about five years. It's going out now. I bought it on the recommendation of my one of my sister who has been a hair professional for almost 30 yrs. She uses one at work and because of the volume of people she sees and uses it on has to replace it every couple of years. She also uses it at home on herself and the family.


I'm sorry to hear that. Did yours have the conditioning oils on it? Maybe that's why. I can't find even one bad review online and that's unusual with a product. Usually I find at least a couple of people who don't like it so I'm really excited about this. It was written up in one of my magazines I think Fitness or Shape. I figured that's why it's sold out on the Remington site.

I made sure they have an easy return policy in case I don't like it. If that's the case I'll only be out the $8 s&h which is not too bad.

I would never buy any brand but Chi. That is an awesome buy even with shipping added. I bought DD's on eBay for $63 three yrs ago. Five years is very good for a flat iron, I believe you got your money's worth. DD always uses a flat iron spray. In the past she has used Herbal Essence (discontinued), Tresseme and now Chi brand that I bought at TJ Maxx for only $7. Wal-Mart has the same Chi brand spray for $13.77.

My daughters remington is Wet2Straight but I can't find a model number on it and they say it pulls their hair out.

I would not go with a wet one. Hair should be completely dry before flattening.

Give it a shot, ya never know. I hate the Chi, as does my hairdresser. He says they are over priced and over rated. I finally bought the one he uses and nothing has ever worked so well, my 2 girls have one as well and my younger one has a ton of hair. That things glides through it in no time. It is the babyliss pro nano titanium.

After seeing the great deal you found on Amazon for the Farouk I canceled my order with Remington and went with this one. I've had such good results with it and just thought "oh I can't afford to spend $80 right now on a new one." But really it's not much more than the one I was going to order and I know from experience it works well with my hair, my product, and it lasts a long time.

Now I'm really glad I started this thread and I thank you for finding me this deal.

I checked the price on Amazon and the Babyliss appears to be about the same price or more than the Chi.
What don't you like about the Chi?

Yep, I paid $80.00 I think it was, but that was way cheaper than my hair guy could get it for. The Chi does not straighten as quickly or as easy. It takes longer, much longer. The titanium plates are extra smooth, and the chi ones pulled my hair. The chi caused way more damage and my guy told me why...I just forgot, some technical talk...lol. I also like that mine is digital, which is no biggie, just cosmetic. The main thing is how it glides through the massive thick hair like butter and even huge hunks come out perfect with one short sweep.

forgot to add, with the chi, or any others I tried, my hair would start to frizz or curl in this horrible humidity we have here, but Never with the one I have now, even on rainy days.

There are over one million people on mycoupons and now this is sold out at Amazon. Wow is all I have to say. This isn't the first time something has been posted on one of the boards here and sold out. We have a lot of power as consumers in one big group. I wonder what would happen if we all joined together to protest the price of something or did something all together and used our powers for good instead of evil?
