You can go to epinions.com for reviews. I would also try newegg.com where you can check out the tvs and get user reviews. Consumer Reports is another good resource. We are dreading having to buy new tvs. I hope ours last and last. Remember the days when a tv lasted a good 20 yrs? Not anymore. The new ones suck as far as durability and reliability go.

Plasma owners will tell you to get plasma, LCD owners will tell yo to get LCD. We bought 52 inch plasma about two years ago. No issues with burn-in. Can see the picture clearly from all angles in the room. We got Panasonic and have had no issues at all. I'm sure either one is amazing.

We have a 46" Samsung LCD tv ( model LN46B650) that we bought this past summer. We love it. We did a lot of research before we made the purchase. It has a 120 hz processor which eliminates the blur you get with 60 hz processors. Also, the new Consumer Reports (I believe it's the February issue) has reviews of the best LCD and plasma tvs. Many libraries subscribe to Consumer Reports, so you could probably look at the issue at your local library if you would rather not buy a copy. I find Consumer Reports to be a great resourse for this sort of purchase. Hope this helps! |

I like LCD. I have the 46 inch Sharp Aquos and could not be happier.

We have a 46" Sony Bravia LCD and love it. The deciding factor that made us choose an LCD over plasma was that we have several windows in our living room and they would reflect off the plasma far worse than they do the LCD. Other than that, we didn't notice a huge difference between the two.

We went with LCD for the same reason. We have a 12 foot window in our living room and while I love the sun, it made it difficult to watch tv before.

Don't the plasma's weigh a lot more than the LCD's as well? That's what I've heard. Not having either, I really don't know. That might be something to ask about it you are planning to wall mount it. I know you can mount either, but if you are like my husband and I, it would be very difficult for us to get one mounted without help from someone younger and stronger if it weighed a lot. Right now I'm watching craigslist for a used one. I think we'll dip our toes into the water with someone else's outlay. |

I have a 61 inch commercial NEC Plasma in the family room, a 32 inch LCD in my office, and a 46 inch Panasonic LCD in the guest room. I also worked in the AV industry before I moved here to VA...I ran purchasing for a big Event company, so my team bought large volumes of Plasmas and LCDs. If you are buying a TV for home use, like in a family room that will get a bunch of activity...you can go with LCD and be just fine. If you are using it for gaming (like Wii or XBox) LCD will be okay too....and you can pick up a higher grade unit for cheaper than a high grade plasma. Just remember...you get what you pay for when it comes to these TVs. Panasonic, Sharp, NEC, and even Samsung are great units. Be careful of buying your unit at WalMart or Costco or Sams....companies design units to only be sold at these stores, and that is why they are sold cheaper. I got my plasma directly from NEC on their friends and family program because of my prior job.....but, I bought the other TVs from Sears and Best Buy. Units are changing constantly....so it is in your best interest to check Consumer Reports and get the latest ratings.

I am not sure what brand or the size but my mom has a HUGE plasma tv. I hate it. The picture is blurry at times and the QVC is burned into the bottom(lightly). I imagine its because she watches that channel alot ...LOL. I also think some colors..Like red..are way off and do NOT look good. I would go with LCD if I was going to get one. HTH
