Anyone use Melaleuca products or heard of them?

A friend of mine became a member of Melaleuca and I was just wondering if anyone here has used their products. If so what did you like or dislike about the products? Do they really work good?

TIA,
Christy

I have heard of them. I used to know a lady who sells them. I did not try them because back then, around four years ago or so, you had to sign on for a certain amount each month. So if you buy $40 worth of stuff you have to commit to that every month. I don't know if it's still that way. I didn't see any spectacular that I couldn't find some version of in the stores. There are natural type products everywhere now Christy.
And your friend may be successful but she'll probably always be trying to talk you to get into it. I guess it's not really a pyramid scheme per se, it's a legitimate business, however it's just like Amway. You buy in then get as many people under you to buy in and so forth. I stay away from things like that.
Hope this helps.

my sister in law signed up for this. its like amway basically. she had to agree to buy so much a month. seems like it was 40-50 dollars a month. anyways, it went fine till her hubby lost his job. she couldnt afford the monthly fee and they would not let her out of the contract. she was harrassed by collection calls and then taken to court. she lost.. she still has to buy the amount she agreed to until her time is up.

I really like some of their products but it was too costly to remain in the program. When I was in it, you had to spend like $40 a month. Doesn't sound like a lot but you have to use A LOT of their products to get this amount and we didn't use enough products per month to have to reorder every month so we ended up with stuff we didn't need. I had to fight to get out of the contract. Luckily, I had the person who signed me up put in writing I could quit when I wanted to and signed it. That is what helped me out.

I like the Nicole Miller Makeup a lot and the Sol U Mel (really, a super cleaner but it has a weird smell). I like the tea tree oil for cuts and things and the window cleaner is fine but it's just like every other window cleaner. We didn't care for the vitamins. Those are costly too. I didn't like any of the soaps, candles or shampoos either and their hairspray is yucky. I could buy cheap Suave and do better.

I order the Sol U Mel from a friend because it will get stuff out of my carpet and microfiber chairs that oxyclean just won't.

I just googled "Melaleuca scam" and boy are there a lot of complaints about this company. I'd be careful about getting involved.

Ladies,
Thank You so much for the input on this. I will make sure I myself stay way from getting involved the company. But I may try some of the cleaning products thru my friend. She did research the company on google but decided to try to "work" it so we'll see.....She did have to pay $29.00 (membership fee) to get the member prices (like you do at Sams, Costco,) just not in bulk. There are so many scams out there and I was thinking this sounded like Amway Thank You Anna!!
Little Joe, I'm so sorry your friend had to go thru all that. That's horrible!!
SexySmurf,Thanks, I was thinking about trying the shampoo I think I'll stick with Pantene.lol
Thanks to everyone for the info.
Christy

Wow this brings back memories! There was a HUGE discussion at a parenting board I have been a member of for years, all about Melaleuca. Someone that was a member there also sold the melaleuca stuff. She posted the letter at the parenting board and it exploded from there.
Here is a link to snopes all about it.

I belonged to the Melaleuca thing years ago. I loved their detergent and their bar soap. I'm not much of a sales person though so we finally dropped out.
